Truth: I still have dreams—probably at least once every few months—about working at that job. Usually I’m my current age but for whatever reason am back working as like a temporary seasonal hire or something, and I’m always excited that I remember how to clean the shelves and run the POS. Crazy how first jobs sometimes stick like that. ---

That’s understandable. It was a job in a field that you loved at the perfect age where you met your life partner. I’d say that’s a fairly seminal moment of your life. I’m probably about a dozen years older than you and one of those idiots that plunked down $700 for a 3DO at the time, which my wife still gives me shit about. I did play a lot of Road Rash on that system and loved every minute of it. ---
