Relocation from Gauteng to Eastern Cape

Seeing that things got a bit chaotic in Pretoria CBD today makes me realize that we are doing the right thing in moving Far and Away from populated areas.

There is an existing structure on site. Apparently somebody purchased a piece of land as well, but the agent showed him the incorrect site and only after he have built the house, did he realized it was on the wrong piece of land.

Win for us - we will complete this structure, it have a roof and the windows need glass, add a loo and shower/bath and other stuff, and everything is ready for MIL to move in.

The area is big enough so that we won’t be in each others’ faces all the time, which is great. Kids can go visit Gramma whenever they want to.

A panorama of the area.

Another panorama from another part of the area.

The location does appear to be remote.

You should have a beautiful view of the night sky on a clear night.

I would have so many radio antennas up on something like that.

And get into astronomy.

That looks amazing… Just perfectly amazing…

Satellite image (note the boundaries are not correct, these on the image have shifted a bit. If you zoom in max on the image and scroll right down to the bottom, you will see the little house as shown above. This will give you an idea of the scale.

That’s an amazing bit of open space… As @sig said, what a place for astronomy / astrophotography!

All you need are heaps of trees for wind-breaks now…

We are toying with the idea of offering eco-hikes where you rock up with hiking equipment, and hike within that region.

I am sure the night sky will be glorious, will need to look at proper telescopes etc.

A good pair of binoculars and your own eyes is all you really need, especially if you compare the light pollution between your new region (upper) and mine (lower and I live at the X).
