# Texans, are you OK?

Yeah. In this economic climate it does not make sense in resigning a job only to struggle finding another job.
And moving out before a certain date, been there, done that. Not fun.

Here’s a really smart and good idea. Ford Motor Company has asked dealers in Texas to loan out the F-150 pickups with onboard generators. Most have a 2.0 kW or 2.4 kW generator, but an option on the hybrid version provides 7.2 kW of power. This article doesn’t mention it, but another one I read stated Ford was offering $600 as an incentive for the dealers to participate.
Normally, buyers jump on a little bit of use as a reason to want a discount on a new vehicle. Some salespeople may also offer it the same way, saying it’s technically not a new vehicle any more. (Let’s skip the whole “drive it off the lot and depreciation eats up the value” conversation.)
In this case, I think all they need to do is get the vehicle on site and let it run at an idle to power the generator. Salespeople could turn it into a feel-good incentive for a sale. “This truck was used in the Henderson neighborhood to supply families with power during the February storm.”
