Mouse pointer goes bye-bye for a while

This is on the Windows 10 computer. I’ve got an issue where the mouse pointer will randomly stop being displayed when it moves over the window a program is in.

For example, right now I have Notepad open while I type something and the pointer is no longer visible. If I move the mouse away from the window, the pointer comes back. The position of the pointer is still being tracked across the window, because if I click the mouse button, the cursor will show up at that spot.

If I wait long enough, the pointer often come back on its own. If I start wiggling the mouse around rapidly so the pointer goes onto and off of the affected window dozens of times in a few seconds, I can usually force the pointer back out of hiding.

It’s not any specific program. It just happens at random after a random amount of time (hours or days).

I have been having that issue recently too. I am also still on Windows 10, but my system is old enough that it won’t support 11. Not that I’m all that eager to go to 11…

The obvious answer is it’s Microsoft trying to annoy us into upgrading, but wouldn’t you know? My computer also doesn’t meet the Win11 requirements. Oh, so sad.
