We call that “due process” which several administration spokespeople feel is unnecessary since they’re obviously criminals.
(The Biden administration did some of this as well, but by all I’ve seen to a much smaller degree. )

Sure, and that creates the kids in cages and unlawful detainee BS. Because it turns out in many cases if someone missed an amnesty court date 3 years ago they’ll likely ghost the next one.
Here is some of the issue. Someone is here on a non-citizen, but legal, basis. Most of those include terms that state things like loyal behavior, no harm to the state, following laws, etc. If Bob Smith protests a law and takes over a College Office he’s gone. He’s on video doing something that breaks his terms and the arrangement. There is no due process, there is video, he done gone did it. Off he goes.
What pisses me off is the immunity which allows officers to not worry about getting it wrong. If Officer Snuffy kicks in the wrong door and takes away Bob Jones instead of Bob Smith, throws him on a plane and sends him to El Salvador then there is nothing that can, or will, be done to Officer Snuffy. Meanwhile, Bob Smith is still here supporting terrorists, and Bob Jones’s kids are without a dad because he’s in prison in a 3rd world country. I want these people to be dead sure before they even bring people into custody. I’s dotted and T’s crossed, because for a non-citizen the rules are different and the threshold is lower. Why would a company want a temp employee that hates the product? Especially since once he is full time it’s impossible to let him go for the same behavior.
Apparently Trump has labelled vandalism of Teslas as domestic terrorism.
Which is possibly the worst thing he could have done there.
A lot of insurance policies have specific exclusions for terrorism.
Which means that Tesla owners who have had their cars vandalised may not get insurance payouts.
I don’t know if it has already happened (this was a Legal Eagle short), but you can bet that insurance companies will at least try that nonsense.
I’m upset about Garcia. There was a court order in 2019 saying that he was never to be deported to El Salvador, and now that he’s been deported to El Salvadore the Supreme Court has said to bring him back. Trump is saying that he has no jurisdiction to make El Salvadore send him back.
I am deeply upset about his apparent belief that the constitution does not apply to him.
Wow, this is huge.
The US Supreme Court overnight has handed down a ruling that they weren’t even asked to make. This is pretty much unprecedented.
Supreme Court blocks, for now, new deportations under 18th century wartime law
Brian Tyler Cohen & Glenn Kirshner on the subject
You guys are inches away from a constitutional crisis.
I also find it fascinating that everyone on the supreme court agreed with this ruling - except Alito and Thomas. That speaks volumes about those two scumbags (umm.. does that make my opinion of them too obvious?
)
There are a lot of people who don’t understand that this has nothing to do with guilt or innocence of those being deported. This is about due process and protecting our constitution.
One big reason why Trump picked amateurs for his cabinet this time around is he didn’t want people around him that would tell him no. Another reason is he favors people that look good on TV. Pete Hegseth is proving that just because he looked good on Fox doesn’t mean he knows how to be Secretary of Defense.
“Signalgate” keeps getting worse and worse for him. First, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz accidentally added a reporter to the chat room on the Signal app because he had the reporter’s name saved as a contact for someone else, and Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic and Washington Week moderator on PBS got to read about the attack being planned on the Houthis in Yemen.
Then it gets worse. It was reported that Hegseth decided to tell a few other people about the attack. “Hey, honey. Hey, bro. Hey, this other guy I know. Want the deets on this super cool thing we’re planning?” Yup. In a separate group chat, he told his wife, his brother and his personal lawyer.
Then it gets worse. It was reported today that Hegseth requested an unsecured network connection to a commercial internet provider so he could use Signal on his own personal computer. “Firewall? We don’t need no stinkin’ firewall protecting our national secrets.”
Hegseth is putting Trump in a really bad position. If he gets rid of him after just 3 months on the job, it’s as good as Trump admitting he picked the wrong person. On the other hand, if he doesn’t, how many more screw-ups will it take before Trump has no choice but to boot the dude?
But who could have predicted that Hegseth would have been so bad at the job?
(Apart from Farron Cousins, Jesse Dollemore, Brian Tyler Cohen, David Packman, Legal Eagle, …)
Trump cabinet picks seem to focus on people he (a) isn’t threatened by (so a cap on visible competence), and (b) has “leverage” of some sort on.
Hegseth is shown to have alcohol problems which can be exploited and utterly failed at running an organization much smaller than the Pentagon.
Last time Trump rolled through a lot of people. I expect to see some more churn this term. I think there’s been a few second tier positions bounced around already.
The close advisors seem more permanent and more dangerous.
My understanding is Vance would need the cabinet to agree if he wanted to make a play for power so Trump may prefer to keep people in place he feels are loyal to him.
In a sane world Congress would be making a bigger deal of issues like this, but at the moment so many are oddly uninterested in an actual InfoSec leak despite talking about Hillary Clinton’s legal-at-the-time private email server from years ago.
Almost as bad as the Tan Suit, we now have the Blue Suit!!!
No one cared about the tan suit, and while it appears a lot more people care about the blue suit it’s just as stupid if not even more so. Especially considering the actual color of everyone’s suit at that event is now questionable considering how many different images I’ve seen of the same people with more and less blue in the crowd. Including some images of Trump that look like he’s wearing a bright blue suit more suited to Elton John.
Doesn’t help that the supposed “guidance” from the Vatican isn’t what people are saying it is and people like Zelensky not even bothering with a suit at all.
However much you hate the media, it’s not enough. It’s only through the remaining strength of internet freedoms that shit like this is defeated. And these are the people that are trying to convince people that all these things are happening, yet they constantly get caught just making shit up like some middle school student council election on a sitcom.
Apparently the law being used was created under Clinton and used extensively by him and Biden, and like Bush and Trump as well last time.
They are just reporting on it now.
Then they should have been reporting on it all along. I don’t care who’s ignoring the constitution, it needs to be called out and punished.
There are also those who missed the hearings where they were deported. Seems like people actually showing up for an asylum hearing is the exception, not the rule.
As a nation we haven’t had an issue with deporting illegal immigrants except when a Republican does it, with Biden and Obama both deporting millions of people there were likely mistakes made every bit as bad as the current ones. But those people were likely left screaming into the void to try to get any help.
Interesting article on some policy differences between Trump and Biden.
https://www.migrationpolicy.org/article/biden-deportation-record
As I’ve said plenty of times in this forum, one of the advantages of a Republican administration is all the dirt comes out. Of course, nothing is fixed and the next administration does the same thing, just with cover, but at least there is some sort of resolution for some people.
But, if you can’t trust the media to represent what color a suit is, no idea how you could expect them to get the details on an immigration case right.
Dunno, maybe NATO is just a waste of time for the US. Which would explain the interest in Greenland. If we lose our (or NATOs’s)ports in Europe Greenland would be the only thing we could defend the North Atlantic with.
Milblogger CDR Salamander nailed it yesterday: “Europeans expect hundreds of thousands of Americans to immediately deploy to Europe to defend them against a nation with the GDP of Texas and a population 1/4th the size of European NATO.” This is from countries that admit they could barely muster 25,000 troops for Ukraine, even if their national survival depended on it.
Great Britain said they could supply up to 10k troops, which is apparently very doubtful, and all the rest of Europe couldn’t make up the other 15k. Poland is the only country pulling it’s weight defensively and they aren’t likely to send troops anywhere.
They hate us, but expect us to protect them against Russia. And if we aren’t willing to die for them then we must be allied with Russia or something.
Man who is having multiple people come out and say he’s been suffering from cognitive decline for ages, something they apparently didn’t notice at the time but have lots of stories to tell about now, suddenly is diagnosed with a heretofore unknown case of cancer. One that is likely to have been there for years. A cancer that went totally undetected despite having literally the best healthcare available in the world. Also despite being on record as saying he had cancer in 2022, something instantly memory holed.
I swear it’s amazing to me how far people will go to cover this crap up. Who the heck was running the country the last couple years of Biden’s administration?
Who’s running the country now? Every time I see Trump on TV he’s vomiting word salad.
Is he the powerless idiot or literally genius Hitler today? I didn’t get the memo. Is it better if I say he has a stutter and couldn’t read the teleprompter? The standard has been set for presidential mental fitness, and apparently severe chemo brain is the new level of excellence.
Remind me again who the party of violence and hate is? Ask Rand Paul, Steve Scalise, Josh Shapiro, Donald Trump, Tesla dealers, Jewish College students, Brian Thompson, and many others. Heck, might as well include Jewish citizens of Boulder CO in that. CHAZ, BLM, Antifa, Black Bloc, etc…
In other news, half the commencement speeches at my daughter’s graduation yesterday mentioned how COVID policies stole 2 years from them. So it’s not like they don’t remember, and they won’t put up with that crap again.
The Big Beautiful Bill is gathering some serious opposition to it.
Going to be interesting to see how that all goes down.
His Trumpness and His Muskiness have their disagreements.
Musk want to kill the bill.
Trump want to go ahead.
