There is a new Nancy Drew show coming out. The network has said the actress will not be Caucasian, Iām down with that. Only a bit more than half the population in the US is, and nothing says she isnāt American Indian, or Black, or fourth generation Latino, whatevs.
But then I continue to read, and they say sheāll be in her thirties and a cop. WTF then? Why bother to make her Nancy Drew? Apparently the concept of a responsible intelligent 18 year old woman who solves crimes is too far out for TV now. This sounds more like Murphy Brown part II than Nancy Drew. Iām also sure they wanted to include more sex than they felt comfortable throwing at an 18 year old character.
Whatās next, Encyclopedia Brown is a 45 year old basement dweller who solves internet crimes through hacking with his boyfriend Pete the recycling magnate?

These are not helicopter parents. Helicopters run out of gas, and can be shot out of the sky.
These parents are more like nuclear warheads, without any of the positive side-effects.
Seriouslyā¦ Itās all or nothing these days. Either the parents are horribly neglectful or they micromanage everything, right down to the childās pulse and bowel movements.

The team was going for itās first year in the league, and 11 of the 14 girls are seniors. Apparently after three games they were dominating everyone. The other teams in the league field multiple teams per school and divide the talent. These girls had a choice between two seven person teams or one large team. Obviously, they picked the team that would guarantee 5 girls on the court. Just 7 members in my opinion would be a mess and cause forfeited games anyway.
So after winning three games in a row, they are reassessing the skill levels and asking the team to not play? There was supposed to be a meeting last night, but I donāt see any updates on this.
If the case is as presented, itās redonkulous. Especially since it doesnāt look like the school these girls are from even has a basketball program.
