Living creatures are not disposable.
Well thanks for starting my day out on a positive note.
Youāre welcome.
The person has been identified, and the matter has been referred to the local DAās office.
This is what you get for driving a Sonata.
She was asking for it.
I am really getting sick of of seeing sexual predators getting plea deals, where felonies are being converted to misdemeanors. And that means they donāt have to register as sex offenders.
I donāt know if itās possible, but perhaps the victims and their families should start suing the DAs who make these deals.
If it makes you feel better, the big case around me ended this week with 41counts guilty, and since he was a teacher he got the āsafe spaceā consideration tacked on. And most of the sentences are to run concurrently. Leaving him with a sentence of 106 years to life. 76 years for 40 of the counts, and 30 to life for the 41st. Which he will serve after the first 76 years have been served. He will never leave prison except in a body bag.
Hey, I drive a Sonata. But Iām also not an idiot.
That was more or less tongue-in-cheek.
I just wonder how they are going to get her to pay for the police cruiser she destroyed (it blew up).
I donāt care what the legality is, I hope more of these slimebags are prosecuted for travelling overseas for this kind of crap.
I cannot explain to some people that just because they think āXā class of people need ABC doesnāt mean that they get to force everyone to pay for it.
I understand that you think X is a universal right, I suggest you start some sort of organization to pay for ABC for those people. Holding a gun to my head to pay for it since you donāt have a job is not what the government is for.
Joe may need a sandwich, I may agree with you that he does. But if you want someone to buy him one, then you buy it. Donāt call the police to tell me to buy him a sandwich, or have them stop everyone on the street and make them pay a nickle to buy him a sandwich. I do not exist to assuage your guilt as a jobless, disabled, federal grant receiving college student, at 45 years old. Get a damn job, donate to your fucking cause, and stop trying to make me pay for your pet issue.
Let the āCalifornia is crazyā rants begin:
Governments pay for things that citizens donāt want them to pay for all the time, and for good reason: Those expenditures benefit society as a whole (or at least the citizenry).
Frankly, I wish that every tax-payer in the US could be given a check-list of budget items, to mark off everything they donāt want their tax dollars paying for. And then they would not be allowed to access or benefit from those budget items for the following year.
But Iām aware of how many people would refuse to fund the EPA. Iām not sure how we would fill their houses with smog, but it would be fun to try.
There are a lot of coyotes in Marin county, and theyāre pretty bold. I remember driving to work one morning and seeing one trotting along the offramp of the freeway. I donāt think it gave me more than a passing glance as I drove by. The only other wildlife that Iāve seen more of in that area are turkeys.
Too funny. Indiana had a black bear siting in a suburb of Indianapolis last summer. The bobcats are coming back too, and the coyotes never really left, but are back in force. They have to deal with the wild dog packs in southern Indiana though, and now there are half wolf and half coyote breeds out there that are supposedly super nasty.
And wild boar hunting has made itās way to my fair state. Itās not often you can rid the land of an invasive species, have a thrilling hunt against a dangerous animal, and get some bacon.
The nice thing is that the wild hogs also feed predators, though they tend to destroy preyās living spaces. In some ways itās the perfect game animal, especially for people looking for danger like an African safari without the guilt.
The guy I was talking to was ignoring things like elections, and votes, and whatever else and saying that it was our responsibility. When I told him to put his own money into it then, he complained that he was a college student and didnāt have the money. Thatās when I told him to drop his stupid white guilt and man up or shut up, not expect someone else to do what he thinks is right.
Say what? Ignoring elections for what purpose?
I was subjected to a speech on how no one in America should be hungry, jobless, cold, or homeless. And that as free Americans it is our job to insure that people are not hungry, etc. Then right after calling us free said we should be forced to subsidize this through higher taxes. This should be done by the government for our own good, because anyone against the government in this is obviously not a true American, because they want people to be homeless and hungry and shit.
I told him that many people who think that no one should be homeless etc give of their time and money to make it so. He said not to talk to him about ācharityā for Reasons. Apparently only the government can fix things, or something.
Then I was told we were already socialist because Fire Departments. All of this with side trips to Sweden, Canada, Norway, and other countries that have solved homelessness, hunger, and crime apparently.
When I told him to stop spending other peopleās money to feel like he did something he would switch back to health care, or Obama, or Canada again.
I am really sick of sad petty people believing that they will sleep better at night by spending someone elseās time and money.
While I agree this guy is going overboard, I think we could also maybe learn a few things from these countries. We donāt have to become exactly like them but Iāve noticed some on the right holding them up as examples of what not to do.
I look at Europe over the last several decades and itās not working as well as it was at first. At a time when many people in Europe are looking at some of the policies and doubting how well they work isnāt the time to start emulating them. Some things, maybe, but we arenāt Europe. The fix for why Socialism doesnāt work isnāt to do it harder and more often.
There are aspects of our social safety net that need fixing. When I was doing research to argue with him I found a couple interesting statistics, we actually spend more money on public aid per person in the US than Canada, and several āsocialist paradisesā. I didnāt dig into why, but it was an interesting number to see. And thatās total population, not per person taking aid.
But regardless, you donāt wish for the government to just decide to do this against the will of the people. That sort of shit leads to fascism.
