The laptop I bought way way upthread in 2016 still works fine. It’s just very worn, and kinda pokey. Worn was the bigger problem, though; only one USB port works reliably and I need that for the trackball. It has deployed overseas with the military twice and gone on dozens and dozens of TDY trips in between. A real trooper, honestly.
So my younger son uses it now for some light gaming and heavy media consumption, and I replaced it a few months ago with another Asus laptop because, well, they seem to work well for me. This one only had 8 GB of RAM but was perfect in every other detail for my needs; that’s a cheap upgrade and easy install, so now it runs 24 GB. Combined price was under $700, I think.
