I can’t see any legitimate use for this, except maybe counter-intelligence or counter-cyber-terrorism, to disable computers being used for nefarious purposes.
But I don’t think that was the intention.

Excellent idea. Will teach lusers not to snaffle things lying on your desk. Especially the cleaning staff. (Ours is a trusted one, but still… you never know when temptation will come a-knockin’…)
