Politics is Stupid

Idk about that. I believed that people wouldn’t vote for him because he’s become so unhinged. Oops.

Not to fear monger, but im following it all really close and well, I think we should start prepping for the end of our lives as it has been.

@Force10 I am extremely worried for people like you, My siblings and partner are all they/thems, and I have told them that it won’t be safe for them to use those as their primary pronouns for a while.

I took of any stickers off things that showed my support for safety. and I recommend everyone to do the same. Don’t make it easy. Go into the dark screaming, kicking, and ready to protect yourself.

My biggest worry is that rump will try to stay in office at the end of his term despite the fact that a president only gets two. I don’t think he’ll succeed, but if he does, then it will be the end of life as we know it.

We are working on getting DS22’s name change done before Jan 20 as we assume it will not be permitted after that. He was going to have surgery in February but we will see if it happens. Hopefully it’ll be too soon for any changes to occur in insurance coverage, etc.

We are also trying to make a backup plan for the younger two for college and financial aid, seeing as they are hell-bent on eliminating the Dept of Ed. Not sure that is actually possible, seeing as every single federal student loan, college, etc, is part of that system.

I’ve started stocking up on food by doing some baking and getting sourdough into the freezer so we will have bread. Also working on getting some Plan B, etc, stashed away. Not so much for me but for my team at work. They are all young college kids and I want to make sure they have access to what they need.

Hopefully it doesn’t come to any of this but better safe than sorry.

Holy crap, Pete Hegseth for secretary of defence? Kristi Noem for homeland security?

You guys are screwed.

Matt Gaetz for attorney general too. It’s like he’s trying to put together the worst cabinet possible. All of my ID reflects who I currently am so I will have it better than most. But the next four years are going to suck.

The problem Trump had last time was that he had people around him who said no, you can’t do that.
This time he’s trying to make sure nobody will. And looking at his picks:
a. Who has the backbone to say no?
b. Who has the intelligence to say no?

I’m just waiting for Green to get a job too, now that’s a scary thought.

I really hope that’s enough

Im reading reports that a group of Info-Sec people have sent a letter to Kamala’s team. They belive that russia, musk, and rump cheated and edited the voting machines.
As much as I want to believe this, and that it will be resolved, I think Americans are just that stupid to have voted for him. No doubt russia and musk helped in this. with the dis-information campaigns and false info they actively pushed.

The Republican-led committee that has been investigating his behavior was set to release their findings on Friday. Within hours of Trump picking him to be the AG, Gaetz resigned from the Senate, listing the potential promotion as the reason. Any findings, including recommendations for criminal charges, are now invalidated because their authority over him ended when he stopped being a Senator.

I can imagine him saying, “So long, suckers! I’m outta here” as he left, knowing that Kevin McCarthy’s knowledge of what the committee had dug up was now worthless. He ousted McCarthy from being Speaker of the House and he won’t face any consequences for it.

Same. But if it isn’t I’ve got my passport ready. How is NZ this time of year?

NZ is beautiful. Check out the NZ immigration site. I registered that last time Trump was voted in, but it was just too expensive for me to move since I own a house, have a lot of stuff, and pets.

All I can say is that I hope the democrats don’t do what the republicans have been doing for the last 4 years, that was pathetic and I don’t want to see another 4 years of it.

Just coming into summer.
I have to say it like that because it has been raining all night and still is

How many of those info sec dudes were on the letter calling Hunter Biden’s laptop a hoax? How many of them bought into the Steele Dossier?

How many of those info sec people were planting agents in groups to kidnap the governor of Michigan or blow up a bridge before the DNC in Ohio? Or showing up as “MAGA” in matching slacks and polos?

The number of people who two weeks ago were sure we had the safest elections in the world that are sure something happened now is amazing. If we win it’s fine, if they win it’s broken.

I may not like it, but I’m not saying that the election was rigged. I’m not out there threatening my neighbours because they support Trump. The fact that I feel threatened now is a problem. The fact that anyone is out there threatening others is a problem.

There are people up here swearing that gas prices will be $1.50/gallon by next year and mocking anyone who disagrees. This behaviour is problematic and what I’m calling out. I don’t care which side is making threats, it’s not okay. This behaviour is supported by Trump’s example.

Speaking of issues, what about the fact that one party now controls the House of Representatives, Congress, and potentially the Supreme Court? One party is not supposed to control it all.

That’s a republican thing, from Trump down.
Literally none of the democrat leadership are saying that the election was stolen as Trump did for the last 4 years.

Rainman Ray stuck out his neck and Youtube did not like it.

Yeah, I saw that one. Ray basically said “Be nice to each other” and got hit for hate speech.
Um… what? On what planet is asking people to be nice to each other “hate” speech?

He didn’t even call out one side or the other, he said most people are in the middle, but that extremists at both ends are the ones complaining

I had been preparing to say that for a few months before the election. It was something that was a strong possibility I’d need to say but hoped I wouldn’t. When I typed it here, I almost put in “Over the weeks, months and years to come”, but I thought that was a little much. We wouldn’t see the effects of the election until after Trump was sworn in.

Even if I had put in “weeks”, I still would have over-estimated when it would happen because I didn’t expect Trump to start trying to run the country before he was sworn in. His goal has been to be ready to go on day one, so he’s rushing to get his cabinet finalized and already has had one major embarrassment with Gaetz dropping out after just 8 days because the just-about-to-be-released results of the investigation was becoming a “distraction”. This was followed by the back-and-forth about whether the committee should still release the report.

The actual attempt to run the country before he’s sworn in was when he posted the message saying (paraphrased for snark purposes) “We can’t wait the years it normally takes for Senate confirmation hearings. I want the Senate to go on a recess immediately when I get back in office so I can use recess confirmations and confirm the judges I want myself. But don’t you go letting the Democrats ram judge confirmations down our throats before Biden leaves office. You gotta stop them from doing the exact same thing I want to do.”

Trump actually helped Democrats do exactly that when he decided he would go watch his good buddy Elon Musk launch another rocket. So when he inevitably posted an angry message on Troth Senchal about there not being enough Republicans back in Washington DC to stop the confirmations, he was oblivious (deliberately or otherwise) to the group of Republicans that tagged along to watch the launch with him.

I have been tracking the examples of voters learning learning what they really got by voting for Trump. It’s being called “voters’ remorse”, or as the kids are memeing these days, “I never thought leopards would eat my face!” I will have more about this later, but I’m going to give two quick examples now and then activate snark mode.

The first was the spike in red states for searches of “how do I change my vote” that began two days after the election. The second was the story about the family that was celebrating the upcoming deportations of migrants until they were reminded that the daughter-in-law was undocumented and they suddenly realized the leopard was about to eat their face.

<snark mode=on>
A voter sees a political ad for the Leopard Party and wants to know what it says.

Announcer: “We’re the Leopard Party. We’ll eat your face!”

The ad then shows a leopard with yellow and orange fur. It speaks to the camera.

“Hi. I’m the leader of the Leopard Party, where our commitment to voters is we’ll eat your face. But not your face. Their face. You know, them, the ones we told you you don’t like. We’re going to eat their face.”

Behind the leopard, a flag fades into view.

Announcer: “We’re the Leopard Party. We’ll eat your face!”

Leopard: “I’m the leader of the Leopard Party and I approve this message.”

The ad ends and the voter sits back and thinks about it. “Huh. That’s refreshing. They’re telling us up front what they’re going to do. You don’t hear that very often. You usually have to wait until after they win to find out that sort of thing.”

“I like what they stand for, eating the faces of the people I don’t like. I like that they promised they won’t eat my face. They’ve got my vote.”

After the election, the voter wakes up when he starts feeling a gnawing sensation. He opens his eyes and screams. “Why is there a leopard eating my face? It’s supposed to be their face, not mine!”
<snark mode=off>

“You knew I was a snake when you took me in.” – From the ending of Donald Trump’s favorite story.

So BRICS countries are in for a rough time.

Going to be interesting. Will have to wait and see what happens.
