Web Find of the Day

As long as it doesn’t smell like vaginal goop, I might be interested.

Wait, what? WTF!

Do you do the Dew? Are you craving a grape/elderberry-flavored version previously only available in Japan? Are you craving it enough to pay $6 for one twelve-ounce drink? Are you itching to give one to the father of someone you know just so you can quote the Monty Python line at them that their father smelt of elderberries?

If the answer to all four is yes, then head to F.Y.E. and get yourself a can of Mountain Dew Violet. Supplies limited and they’re restricting it to 12 per customer. The twelve-packs are sold out.

“People know an ending–but not the ending.” George R. R. Martin says now that the show’s over, some of the pressure to write the books has been reduced. However, he says that he still only completes 3 or 4 pages on good days. So, it’s still likely he won’t get the finished. I don’t think there’s anybody lined up to complete his work if he doesn’t.

Thanks for nothing, George.

His only crime is letting his fans think he cared. His refusal to update his methods and actually work at writing instead of engaging an obviously tepid muse indicates his real opinion of his fans.

I don’t blame him, he got his chunk, but stop playing people along.

I guess I was just holding out hope his ending would be better than the obviously rushed and flawed ending of the show.

My younger brother pointed me towards this :

I had a Dwarf Fortress phase when I was really bored at OldJob.
If you get into it, I recommend opening a separate thread. There’s a lot to unpack within the simple text-based game.

Also see Rimworld.

For the West Coasters that love In-N-Out burger, they now sell shoes:

Someone posted these on my FB wall the other day. White gets dirsty too easy and I’m not a huge fan of that style of shoe.

The Dancing Baby at 60 FPS and 1080p.

I know a lot of people thought that was so cute when it came out, but I always thought it was creepy as hell, and it doesn’t get any less so at higher res.

If you want to make the dancing baby even worse, watch Millennium S02E21 titled Somehow, Satan Got Behind Me

That thing was everywhere…

I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that show before. Am I wrong, or is that Bishop, the android from Aliens?

It was a kind of 90s spinoff from The X-files that ran a few seasons. Had more of a firm plot lime of Lance Henriksen getting involved with a weird agency/cult/society and investigating weird crimes and such related to end of the world.

As @balance noted, it was an X-Files franchise spinoff from Chris Carter, it lasted 3 seasons and there was a tie in to X-Files after it finished as a kind of final tie off. In Season 7 of X-Files I think.

And yes, Lance Henriksen did play Bishop in Aliens.

Sounds fun. Somehow, I never got into the X files. I only watched a few, but it seems like half the times I tuned it, they were at a circus with a bald guy with a blue puzzle pattern tattooed all over him. It probably didn’t help that I found David Duchovny, I dunno, annoying? I was going to say that I dislike him only slightly less than David Caruso, but that’s not true - I haven’t seen enough of Duchovny to dislike him that much. Oddly, I never found Tia Leoni likeable either.

I used to have similar luck with Star Trek: The Next Generation. Rarely watched it, and when I did it seemed to be the same episodes.

My wife puts re-runs on on weekend mornings as basically background noise. Recently it was Golden Girls and they played the same episode twice in a row!

I did a re-watch of the X-Files a few years ago and it mostly holds up. There’s clunker episodes, but also some really good ones. Duchovny is not the most expressive actor, but it works for the X-Files as his character is supposed to be kind of a weird isolated person.
