Used the legacy engine on OS/2 back then, still using it but for windows.
If there’s a Linux version, then I’ll try it as well.
Ookson and self played a bit of fragmatch Serious Sam, had a jolly good time kicking each other’s asses

A coworker got me into Ni no Kuni II and it’s quite fun. Haven’t played many games like it so it’s a bit of a learning curve for me, but I’m enjoying it. Try to carve out one day per week to just play my games but it’s hard. But I keep trying!
Doom is 25 years old. Rock on!
Design Home on my android phone. It’s exactly what it sounds like - you design a room in a house and other players vote on it. I’m doing pretty well so far, scoring above 4.0 (out of 5.0) most of the time, which gets me prizes - free furniture items I can use in future rooms. Sounds sort of dumb, I know, but I’m enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would.
I like Tents and Trees also, waiting on money to get 12x12B
Been playing a fair bit of Deep Rock Galactic. It’s a fun Left-4-Dead/Vermintide/etc style class-based wave shooter where you’re one of a group of space dwarves sent into a planet’s underground to go mine materials and kill bugs. Lots of bugs. SO MANY BUGS.
One of the classes starts with a flamethrower. I have had much fun with said flamethrower.
Started playing Wolfenstein: The New Order. I love the gameplay and so far I’m enjoying the story and the entire game universe too. The only thing I don’t like is how much cutscenes are in the game. Cutscenes that you can’t pause too. Oh, and the checkpoint save system. Seriously, any FPS game that’s on PC should never have a checkpoint save system. It’s what made me hate FarCry 3 with a passion.
I know I’m never going to have a computer in time that is capable of playing Cyberpunk 2077, but it’s cool to see Keanu Reeves is in it.
Just limiting myself to an hour or so. If I get stuck in a game, I leave it alone for a day or 2… Usually resuming it after a while means I find a way or so to solve the puzzle/problem and get on with things. (Currently stuck in oceanhorn).
All the moon-landing stuff makes me wish I had a copy of Kerbal Space Program but my random game funds are a bit depleted right now.
It is on sale right now for Xbox One, but I’m not sure how frustrating it would be to play with a controller. Could always hook up a mouse & keyboard, though.
Waiting for Steam… And money in my Paypal account, which is also pending.
I’m playing the “where is my overtime pay from November” game. I’m not very good at it.
Want to play Doom, Doom II and Doom 3 on your PlayStation 4 or Nintendo Switch? id Software just announced they are releasing them for those consoles.
Were you already playing those on your Xbox One? Don’t uninstall them because they were just delisted by Bethesda Softworks and you’ll need to pay $20 to get Xbox One-native versions. Keep your Xbox 360 disc for “Doom 3: BFG Edition” if you ever do need to uninstall and install it.
But wait, there’s more! And less. You get split-screen play in deathmatch and co-op modes, the expansion pack “No Rest For The Living” has been removed, and the first two games no longer have online gameplay modes for deathmatch and co-op.
Full details are in the Ars Technica article published yesterday, along with this reminder:
“Consider today’s news another reminder that your digital game purchases are nothing more than licenses, which publishers are free to revoke.”
Another reason why I hang onto the physical media and packing of all games I buy, even if I later get a digital-only version through an online service.
Not to mention that before you can play them, you have to log in with a Bethesda account…
For me the shareware doom.wad is good enough.
…I was weak. I bought Kerbal Space Program.
I am terrible at it, but enjoying it. It’s that kind of game.
Currently I have a somewhat-stable vessel I’m using to ferry wealthy people on suborbital flights that end up in the ocean. Thrill-seekers, I guess. But it’s letting me get upgrades to take on more interesting missions.
Navigation is my weak point right now.
Spent most of yesterday on Diablo III - managed to complete the entire first act. I haven’t done that in a while, and forgot how much I enjoyed it. I’m going through with a monk this time around - of all the characters I’ve played so far, I like her mindset the most.
KSP’s got a lot of rough edges, some of which persisted from the Demo I played years ago. it’s still a lot of fun, though.
The Career mode is interesting as you’re basically balancing Funds, Prestige, and Science to build the infrastructure to lost your doomed rockets… but you can always back out to the VAB, ans scrub a doomed mission. Unless letting a Kerbal die is worth a ton of science points.
You get to select Contracts from a list that ranges from “test this random component on the launch pad” to “Land on another world.” (I haven’t seen the latter yet as I’ms till in the suborbital era.) Even with basically sending up capsules that parachute down and work correctly maybe 4/5 of the time, I’m getting tons of ‘space tourists’ so had to build a craft with a second seat so I can haul tourists up for a few seconds in space… Basically two Mercury capsules welded together, and extra ugly.
In time I should be able to move to a more ‘airplane’ cockpit and crew compartment, which will hopefully aid efficiency quite a bit. Right now it’s inefficient as I’m sending up this ugly mess just to get a tourist into space.
Not that I have much time to play anymore, but the youngest and I are both considering buying the following - Super Mario Maker 2, Luigi’s Mansion 3, and Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Not sure if these.series are good but they look fun. Of course, I’m still working on Octopath Traveler and Ni no Kuni II and bought a game I’ve yet to try bc I liked the description - Bendy and the Ink Machine. Also wanna try Wolfenstein but I can borrow that from a friend. Yet all I do is paint it seems.
