What's Your New Shiny?

That’s one thing I am happy about. Back in Ohio we looked at a house built in the 20’s. Really nice but would’ve been a crap load of work to keep up. We would’ve had the same deal with the original lead windows. Gorgeous but if anything goes wrong, uhf. These are the original windows in a house built in the early 70’s. I’m just happy they are doing it in spite of the asbestos siding. $BIG_DIY_STORE basically told us to GTFO when they saw the siding.

Yeah, my furnace might as well be made out of asbestos insulating tape.

Don’t touch, no problems.

Um… yes.

I even corrected that error elsewhere in the post, too. :flushed:

My new riding lawn mower, I wanted a garden tractor, but the budget said not quite yet. I can put a snow blade on this, but not a tiller or a plow or auger. Also, my new trailer, and the new hitch on my “truck”. And if you look in the door of the chicken coop (Sears Outdoor Buildings Catalog, 1925) , you can see a dog cage with 4 chickens in it, but mostly you can just make out the back of the heat lamp.

Found the trailer on Craig’s for $300, offered $250, then while we were hooking it up I mentioned I was looking for a tractor and it turns out he is a small engine repairmen. Opened up his garage and there were 6 mowers in there. Asking $700 for this one, gave him $650.

I had budgeted $1000 for a tractor and $1000 for the hitch and trailer, so as of right now I have about $800 leftover, that I may add to my gaming rig money.

I use these for cooking a lot, but haven’t been able to find them in San Francisco.

1/6 scale Suzuki GSX1100S ‘Katana’ motorcycle kit by Tamiya.

Even after freight from Japan it was 1/3 the price of buying it from a local shop.

Oooh. R/C?

This could be in a lot of threads. What Made You Happy and Homeownership.

If you use spray foam in your house buy one of these.

Great Stuff Pro Dispensing Gun

I’ve had it on my Home Improvement wish list for a while but I saw one in action when they replaced our windows. It made me purchase it and I got to use it this weekend. It is freaking fantastic! You have much finer control (plus it came with with smaller nozzles), the foam expands better than the stuff in the can, it dries faster and you don’t end up throwing half a can away because you didn’t clean it out. In order to clean it, you buy a can of the cleaner and just screw it to the gun and give it a couple blasts. It cleans it all out for the next time. And you can use the cleaner to dissolve uncured foam as well. It’s super easy and so much better than the cheap cans.

Nope. Static display kit.

I’m sure that SDK will be very useful.

Still, I’d love to have the time to properly complete a kit like that.

Or indeed, time to indulge any of my 234528371 hobbies…

I got Kenyatta this:

I splurged. I’ve never bought a new laptop or PC for that matter. Everything has been refurbished, on clearance (because it’s crap or no longer supported) or built myself. Friday, I went out and bought a Surface Pro 3. The top i7 256 GB model too. It’s lovely. Spent the weekend playing Shadowrun Director’s Cut on Steam with it. No keyboard or mouse required. I had to leave it at home today because I know I wouldn’t get any work done. I’d just sit and play with it.

One of these:

to replace one of these:

Since that one suffered a catastrophic failure on holiday…

Sounds like a good idea…wish we would have had that for our last dog. Our new dog does not eat fast and for some odd reason is not food/treat driven.

New bass amp. I sold my 100W 15" driver monster Crate (67 pounds!) for this 25W 8" driver practice amp and I am extraordinarily pleased. At all of the volumes I need (up to playing with a few acoustic guitars and a piano) it sounds at least as good, and it weighs only 23 pounds.

So this is just a bowl that’s hard to use, forcing the dog to eat slower?

I need that for myself.

Yeah, it’s not really working. I’m back to giving her 1/5th the usual serving, several times a day.

At least it looks pretty.[/sarc:off]
