I’d love to get one of the UCS kits, but when they are well north of AUD$1k… Not going to happen.
I want. Now.
makes darth vader sounds
Yes, they are kind of unrealistically expensive, neat as they are. Thus I content myself and my rare urge to Lego with the smaller more realistically priced sets.
I guess I’ll be finding out how one of these things works pretty soon.
My heatsinks aren’t working up to snuff and I’ve run out of equipment slots. I was overheating today while mowing the lawn. The old LawnBoy mower I’ve been using for the last 10 years still starts on the first pull, but it is a bit heavy, not self-propelled, and noise as hell. The surface of my lawn is like the Alberta badlands. It takes everything I have to get my lawn mowed. If this is what I have to pay to make it easier, so be it.
It looks good
Do give us an unboxing video and review of it.
Old age, eh?
I’m dumb as a sack of hammers.
I didn’t notice that there was a promotion on my mower purchase to get another bare tool for free.
You have to add it to the cart at the time of purchase, so you can’t ask for it after the sale has gone through.
Okay, I get that. No problem.
Here is my plan. I’ll just buy another one, with the 40V string trimmer (free) and when I go to pick it up, I’ll return the mower I just got but with the other receipt.
Okay, good. Purchase made. Let’s check the return policy, just to be sure.
Ontario and Gatineau stores are not currently accepting returns. They remain open for curbside pick-up only at this time.
Shit. Well, I’m sure I’ll be able to work it out in the 180 day return period. Somehow.
Been using mine for two plus years. My front yard is about 50ft x 50 ft with a driveway cutting a bit out. On an average summer cut I use one 40v, 5 aAh battery. If the grass is heavy (because I missed time or it rained and the grass shot up) I will sometimes run one out and need to start a second one.
The mower has slots under the hood for two batteries - one live, one spare, and it’s the work of 20 seconds to slide them each out and reverse their position.
The front of my lawn is sloped, rising about 3 ft in 15, and unless one of the back wheels gets caught in wet grass I only need to supply a little human-power to assist the self-propelled traction. The rest of the time the mower pushes itself.
And with arthritis at the base of one thumb pushing the old mower was excruciating.
The blades chop finely enough that I don’t need to bag, although I sometimes need to double-cut to get the trimmings the first pass leaves.
I also have the same brand and voltage in a chainsaw, since my need for chainsawing is light and sporadic, and a backpack leaf blower.
When my corded snow thrower dies, it’ll be replaced with a Ryobi 40v model, for sure.
I did the side and back of my yard yesterday and it took one and a bit batteries. OMG does the self-propelled function help. I’m not fighting with it all the time. All. The. Time. It took all of 10 seconds to get used to engaging and knowing when to let it go so I could turn. It cuts much better than the old one. I had done the front on mulch with the older, the rest on mulch with the newer. There are piles of grass on the front, none at all elsewhere. I’m very happy. I’d say that the claim of an hour of runtime is accurate, depending on how much you run the drive.
I think I can do the whole lawn in under 12 parsecs.
An outdoor cat. His name is Bruce. He is not my cat but he is my cat. I took him in and neutered, tested, and vaccinated him. So I guess I have a barn cat named Bruce.
You do realize that in the fine tradition of Monty Python, you have to call all of your other cats “Bruce”, too.
Well I don’t plan on having any more cats. Course I didn’t plan on having this cat either. But we’ll call them all Bruce just to be funny.
Barn Cat Bruce can be in charge of the sheep dip.
“Is your name not Bruce, then?”
“No, it’s Michael.”
“Oo. That’s going to cause a little confusion.”
The tripod, not the camera.
I tried it out over the weekend and it’s fantastic. It’s rock solid and very easy to use.
The only issue is that it’s big. I’ve attached it to my backpack, and it extends quite a way either side. Once my various wounds settle down I’ll take it with me on a proper walk to see how practical it is.
The L bracket arrived yesterday afternoon so I haven’t had a chance to try that out yet.
Very nice! I have a Vanguard that looks like that, albeit about 10 years old now, but it’s great.
I’m sure you’ll like having an L-bracket. It’s highly convenient.
The guy across the street from us just gave me his bike. His vision is so bad that he can’t drive anymore and a bike is just a bad idea. This gets it out of his garage. It’s going to need new tires and tubes for a start. I guess I’ll see what else it needs after I get that sorted.
unicycle bagpipe rider… must take some skills!
and this
Must take some serious skill to play a bagpipe AND ride an unicycle at the same time.
I ordered a new robotic vacuum. My neato is still working, but I know that I’m going to want a second one for the new place since it’s two floors. I did a bit of research, and decided that I want the Shark IQ self emptying robot.
Just for laughs, I decided to check the prime day deals, and got a refurbished one for $260 with a $10 prime day coupon on top of it. I just got the vacuum that I want for about 40% off!
