Home Ownership

I ordered new appliances for our kitchen yesterday!

IoT toaster? :see_no_evil:

Fridge, Stove, Microwave, and Dishwasher.

It stung a little.

One of $Wife’s friends asked to buy the old stove (which mostly works, but temp control is a little rough at times) and we said “Hell no!” as he’s the one who’s helped us with multiple dump runs and his wife is already on-board for our demolitions team next month.

We give him stuff he wants, no way we’re selling it to him.

Ants.
They’re back.
They’ve been a problem for the last 5 years or so. The Dragonlady goes absolutely insane when there are ants in the house. We had fleas once, and she has become phobic about stuff like this ever since.
Spiders are cool because they eat other insects. Don’t let her see one of those millipedes that are all over the basement, though.

Anyway, she found a pretty reputable local company that will actually talk to her and help her to understand what can be done to help fix the problem instead of just sending a guy in coveralls who will spray inside and out, get you to sign the paperwork, but nothing more. She feels that this is what she needs.

I have to miss an hour of work tomorrow to take the cats to the vet for boarding so the spraying can be done. I have a feeling I’m going to be busy tonight moving stuff away from the walls in the basement. I may have to look at replacing the rigid sheet insulation down there, too.

sigh

Just scheduled delivery of our new cabinets. I guess it’s happening!

(Next month… After we demo the existing Kitchen.)

After a bit of procrastination I pretty much have the foyer done. I cannot get the trim at the ceiling because it’s too tall and I’m too short. Will have to find a very tall ladder when in comes to that point for the entire two story section. But, here is the next phase, almost complete. Just need to clean up and finish the electrical work and the foyer is done!

Nice!

(plus yadda yadda to fill character quotient…)

Or rental scaffolding. Actually easier and safer than a ladder. So if you don’t know anyone who can loan you a ladder and you’d have to rent anyway… look at scaffolding on wheels.

I like the light fixture. Our new kitchen fixture is broadly similar, but more of a ‘drum’ shape than a ‘bowl’ if that makes sense.

The joys of being Adult: I am excited about going to Ikea this weekend to buy a pot rack and maybe under-cabinet lighting.

Ugh. Pulling down the window treatments and stuff off the walls. So. Much. Junk.

Also pulled out a much of movies that belong to the ex and set a bunch of crap aside for him to either take out of my house or drop on the curb. At this point IDC either way.

Roughly the same time of day as the way above pic of the great room. It has been pretty overcast today (thanks Barry!) so it’s not like I’m getting the benefit of sunshine to make it seem more than it is. Same exact room, without a bunch of stereo equipment, curtains, blinds drawn, or extra wall crap.

As a bonus, my new projector has good enough sound for my purposes! And there’s a guy who might want to buy this annoying couch!

After. Making good progress. Need to get ahead while I can, as pretty soon school starts and the heathens will be back here full time. :scream::sob::rofl:

Take the tape off tomorrow and see how it actually turned out!

That’s a pretty cool idea!

We bought the flooring for the kitchen yesterday, and tomorrow I have to try to push the cabinet delivery forward. Which means waiting on the phone with a logistics company for who knows how long…

We’re also dealing with the issue of losing what little space we have in our main floor to cabinets, stuff moved from the kitchen, and other materials. The next few weeks is going to suck.

I just realized I forgot to call the Countertop place Sunday to make a payment. I only realized this because they emailed me about scheduling.

Scheduling this stuff is a royal PITA.

My goal for the next week is to cook meals with the goal of whittling down this pile, which we have relocated from the pantry.

Paid of the countertop fees, which won’t be installed. We have some timing issues floating, as logistics is a pain in the ass.

I’m kind of expecting to live in the basement for a week while work is being done.

Give it to a certain carbosilicate amorph…

Does anyone think our pile of spice bottles (centered on the red-capped jars front-and-center) is kind of ridiculous? We’ve done the “Oh, this recipe needs a weird spice I’ve never heard of…” more than a few times, so have some oddballs. On the other hand, we have maybe a half-dozen basic spices we go through a lot of: Cumin, oregano, and a few others.
