Bathroom tile is coming along nicely. I love that we’re using the same grout in the walls as the floor. It sounds weird to say this, but grout and tile adhesive have come a long way since the last time I did this.

I have 3 more pieces of trim to put up. Then it’s just finish work. I will call it done after they are nailed in and the finish work will happen as it comes.

Looks really neat, like a professional job!

You have no idea how difficult it was to find cove tiles to meet the floor. Grinding them out to meet on the inside corners was a lot of fun with the wet-tile saw.

Has anyone here done a rent-to-own situation? My current landlord for the apartment me and my girlfriend moved into floated the idea by us. He said he was fine not doing a bank situation.

I like him a lot, and he is a friend’s dad, but this just seems like a bad idea to me.

Rent to own works, but with a contract and usually a bank. But at least a contract, that you can afford to enforce. But if your credit sucks, it’s viable.

Get a contract, do the math to make sure you’re paying a fair amount at the end. If you don’t have a down payment, it may not be a bad way to go.

Its a nice place, needs to have all the carpeting ripped out and replaced, the kitchen needs modernization. The HOA fees per month are stupid ($550 USD a month). With it being about 40 years old, i have concerns with the entire thing, but i do adore the place.

Just be careful of the HOA. Heard many horror stories on Reddit.

That’s about 70% of the P&I on my mortgage. Ridiculous

The mortgage would be another 2k at least on top. Got to love north bay Cali.

HOA = Danger Will Robinson! Danger!

So, you’re looking at $2500 per month payment on an apartment? Don’t do it.

Holy shit, I just refinanced for a remodel and I am at $900 a month all in. Also, 550 for an HOA, hell no.

I know this is a different area of the country, but damn. you could move almost anywhere else and take month long vacations for that money. Or fly out for a weekend a month.

He lives in SuperExpensiveLand where I used to live. $2500/month is not an uncommon house payment at all. It’s excessive for an apartment, though, unless it’s in San Francisco proper, and then that’s pretty normal.

Im right over by the hospital, i could throw a rock and hit the ER and helipad.

No offense man, I am sure you have very good reasons, but damn. People mention the weather, or the mountains and ocean and everything else, but you have to have spare time and money to take advantage of that crap, and it just doesn’t seem like it’s there for most people.

If you live in an area where moss can grown on your roof, make treating it a regular part of home maintenance. Otherwise, your insurance company may clue you in that it needs to be done with a deadline.

This past summer we had drought-level lack of rain.
My back door deadbolt is now jamming badly, and I just discovered a crack running from the foundation up through the bricks to about five feet.

The bricks cracked, not the mortar between them.

It’s also a lot harder and more expensive to move out of state than most people think it is.
