This isn’t technically a scam, but it is doesn’t sound exactly honest because it looks like they’re trying to create artificial scarcity.
There’s a company called Bulbhead that’s a part of Telebrands, the ones that started the “As Seen On TV” products. They have a lot of products that are useful in different ways.
During the last two months, their late night ads have been saying they’re having supplier shortages, so they’re limiting orders to 3 of what’s being sold at the time. The shortages seem to be hitting all of their products in a short period of time, no matter what kind of product it is.
I think they’re goosing their orders by portraying it as “if you don’t order now, you might not be able to in the future”.
I was almost taken for several hundred dollars.
You all know the Dr. Marten’s brand of footwear. Well, there is another company that makes footwear very similar to theirs and have for a very long time. When Dr. Marten’s went to Asia for manufacture, they held to their roots and continue to make their boots in England.
I found out about them and looked around for a local supplier. There was one website in Canada and their online presence was almost identical to the UK website. The prices were a lot better and they ship for free within Canada. Awesome. Unfortunately, this is a scam and they just take your money. There are many more of them still online. I had been putting off getting a couple of pairs of boots and shoes and I’m glad that I did. I started to do some investigating when I couldn’t get to their website and found that the whole thing was a scam.
Their actual website is here. Order their boots. They look as fantastic as Dr. Marten’s used to be. I watched a video about how terrible DMs had become (and why) and found the company name within. My mistake was trusting the Google.
<voice=“Morgan Freeman”>You will not, in fact, receive military vehicles.
On the other hand, if the spam was from Gordon Freeman it’d just be “…”
There was a place selling old Soviet APC type vehicles years ago. Had the idea of trying to sell them for remote maintenance vehicles for electrical companies and such.
I vaguely remember that, too. Somewhere around the turn of the millennium, and was named something like ‘Rosboron’ or the like.
There are places around that sell ex-military vehicles. Sadly, though, I expect shipping would be rather expensive. Not to mention the fuel and maintenance costs.
Yeah, my understanding is that military vehicles are meant to work really well for short distances but may not be suited for long distance/heavy usage with minimal maintenance.
Tanks and other combat type vehicles I would say yeah. Humvees and 2.5 and 5 ton trucks can go through an apocalypse, but the mirrors will break in about 10 miles.
I got another one from Morgan Freeman… This time all in English asking if 8 have any hobbies, I’m guessing it’s an attempt at the “pig butchering” scam as it’s apparently known where it would escalate to asking me to ‘invest in an opportunity’ if I bit on it.
