Random Musings (and associated non sequiturs) v. 3.0

What is the update to the flooding? Everybody got out of there safely?

Federal legislation against catalytic converter theft is a waste of time. It’s already illegal to steal one.

Why does anyone think crap like this is the fed’s job?

You can legislate all you want, but that ain’t gonna stop people.

Only by enforcing the law with consequences for all to see…

Unfortunately, enforcing is the issue. Too little cops and too much cars with yummy catalytic converters.

Likewise - if you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have gins.

Yellowstone is starting to open back up, so that indicates people got out okay.

The park has five entrances. The roads in the park for the north and northeast entrances are closed. The park is limiting how many people can be in at one time at the other three. If your license plate ends in an odd number, you can go in on odd-numbered days.

Regarding that picture of the heavily modified construction vehicle, I wonder if that’s how the Mortal Engines started out?

Liked that movie a lot.

I’ve moved out of the house I’ve lived in for over 50 years. You know what? I liked having a house to live in.

Isn’t ā€œhibernateā€ supposed to shut the laptop entirely after writing memory to disk? So that the power doesn’t drain?

Yes, it’s supposed to.

Somebody probably confused sleep mode and hibernate mode.

I think they forgot a critical word in the second line: ā€œPackageā€.

Maybe they didn’t forget anything…

Oh lord. Old Spice guy interrupts an Arby’s commercial.

Funny, but the half pound roast beef sandwich isn’t that big. The Meat Mountain is, but even I only tried that once. A bit too messy to make the rotation.

Come to think of it, what do they mean by ā€œpost-consumer contentā€??

If I consume something, then what comes out afterwards could be classed as ā€œpost-consumer contentā€, no??

Paper that came from the recycling bins of homes and businesses (shipping containers).

As opposed to waste material in manufacturing processes.

@Viking: That’s where I was going with pointing out the missing word. One of the meanings of ā€œconsumeā€ is ā€œeatā€.

I get home today and I see a large, oddly-shaped bumblebee make a fast descent into the grass. I move a little closer and see it’s actually two and the smaller looks like it’s vibrating. Just pure random chance that I happened by at that spot at that time to catch a small glimpse of a mating flight.

I feel that there should have been some birds nearby.

Best I can do on short notice.

Is it just me, or is a pastor of a church and his wife having over $1 million worth of jewelry that they wear in the church itself a sign they might have been paid too high of a salary?

The church has been around for nine years, yet the pastor is known for wearing designer outfits and extravagant jewelry. Shouldn’t at least some of that money gone towards other portions of the ministry?
