Me too. May have been ugly crying in the lecture hall at my conference. Luckily it’s a very conference so if anybody asked they’d totally understand.
I suspect he was sick for a while and just hid it well. Kids are going to be very upset.

Very few get to choose the moment of their passing, but this is kind of astounding. Singer-songwriter David Olney was on stage at the 30A Songwriters Festival in Florida last night. He paused while playing a song, said, “I’m sorry”, then put his chin on his chest. He stayed upright until the people around him realized he was gone and tried to revive him.

Terry Jones, 77.
In 2016 he was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, which gradually robbed him of the ability to write and speak.
I has an extreme sad.

Mary Higgins Clark, the Queen of Suspense, natural causes at age 92.
It’s a bit rude, but I feel like this may be the one time “…or is she???” Is appropriate.
I feel like I should throw the Disney 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea on this weekend if I have time.

My stepbrother John, of cancer, yesterday. I saw him over the holidays and knew it was likely the last time. We’d not seen each other in several decades. He was still the very kind, funny man that I looked up to when I was like 10 and he was a college student. My stepbrother Jim is taking it pretty hard. They were very tight.

Robert Conrad, 84. Cause not listed in the article but Wikipedia says heart failure. Starred as agent James T. West in The Wild Wild West and as Major Greg “Pappy” Boyington in Baa Baa Black Sheep (Black Sheep Squadron). The latter was the show my dad and I enjoyed watching together because he’d been in World War II.
Orson Bean, age 91. A driver did not see him crossing the street and clipped him, but a second driver got "distracted by people trying to slow him down” and hit Orson more fully. He was still active in movies and TV but that first blow would likely have meant he’d have to cut back or switch to voice acting.
