RIP Thread

Sorry, I’ve been quantum leaping so much the past few years, my memory is swiss cheese. Hey, at least I’m finally getting to where I can remember which coast I’m on!

She was the star of the earliest documentaries that I remember. So much work and time spent with the primates.

Dame Patricia Routledge, 96.

She’s probably best known as Hyacinth Bucket (“It’s BOO-KAY!”). No doubt there will be many Candlelight Suppers held in her honour.

Seriously, though, she was an amazing actress and by all accounts a lovely person who really came into her own in her “senior” years.

Now we can officially say goodbye to Rite Aid drugstores. Founded in 1962, they became one of the latest victims of what I once called “grow and die” businesses and I ventured Rite Aid would be one of them. These are companies that grow by buying other companies, such as Bartell Drug in Washington State, but then their debt level increases so much that they aren’t able to handle it very well. Add in law suits from the opioid epidemic and they filed for their first bankruptcy in 2023, followed by a second eight months after exiting the first.

And the clock is ticking for Walgreens, as they were bought up by private equity in August.

Having pets in my family ended when I was about five so I never got have the lifelong relationship you did. Along with another virtual hug, I’ll share these two videos for everyone to see.

Rocky Kanaka, the Sitting with Dogs guy, has been busy during the past year. He was already growing coffee plants on a five acre farm, brewing the beans and selling it, then feeding the proceeds back into the farm, to go along with the other dog treats and health foods he has.

He just announced he bought 50 acres of farmland that will become a second, even bigger coffee farm with an on-site dog rescue and rehabilitation area. I think he said it may also have some other kinds of crops.

It will have accommodations for if people want to stay overnight and help with socializing one of the dogs and/or work on the farm, they can. Donations will be used to plant the plants and they’ll put a river stone beneath it with the name of your dog.

The details are at Coffee Plant Contribution – RockyKanaka, and here’s two of the videos:
