Holy f…arrk!!
I really, really hope you’re in one of those communities that’s looking after themselves.
I’m ok for now, have got a SHTF kit.
Escape routes planned, daily monitoring of stuff all around.
Going to work as usual etc.
Stay safe.
There is, however, a way out of this mess.
Become self-sufficient and start doing things yourself. This seems to be the way forward, and for survival.
The electricity issue is under control, much to our surprise. Not sure what they did, but we strongly suspect that they are skimping on maintenance, and it’ll bite all of us later.
Moving on…
On twitter somebody made a movie collage of all the #boogaloo which happened in South Africa. There even is the infamous iKheKhe clip taken during the 2021 unrests where mass looting occurred in Natal, and the one guy ate a cake messily in a shop being looted.

There are still sporadic spots of unrests popping up here and there, but at this stage we all are so desentisized that these hardly raise a blip on our radar.
Bit I’m still keeping an eye and ear open for things, I’m not going to be caught unawares.
It sounds like things are improving? Is it just a lull in the storm or actual improvement, though?
Lull in the storm.
Most people are being fooled by this.
That’s what I was thinking. Without real structural and cultural changes, things can’t truly improve.
Any thoughts on actually getting out? Do you have the resources?
We don’t have the resources, but we’re out of the city at least. The farming community will rally together to help each other should things really go to pot.
There is a strong undercurrent of splitting the country up in cantons a la Switzerland, and this may happen soon… Also, the CapExit (Cap secession) movement is picking up some serious steam now, and this is also a possibility.
Looking at the proposed map, I’m pleased to note that we may either fall into the secessed area, or we may be close to the border, which is also a good thing.
However, we will have to wait and see what happens.
So no doubt by now y’all have heard of the explosion in Johannesburg.
Initially some of us thought of illegal mining activities, but it turned out to be a slow gas leak resulting in an underground explosion.
Manglement is still mangling on it, the general consensus is that the ruling party and its lackeys have No F*cking Idea on what to do in this case.
As for forensic investigations, most of the experienced people have already left the country, so this process will not be concluded real quick, which means there may be other “bombs” waiting for a spark to be triggered.
As for me, I’m just glad that my company is not located in the Johannesburg CBD, apparently traffic is really fouled up there.
How long it will take to get fixed is anybody’s guess, but it definitely will not be within 30 days.
Stay safe and keep us updated.
Malema kicked the proverbial hornet’s nest with the EFF (not the Electronic Frontier Foundation) celebrating the EFF’s 10th anniversary with a R150-million bash in Johannesburg over this recent weekend.
The infamous “kill the boer” song was sung by the whole lot, which is clearly defined as hate speech, yet they still sings it.
sigh
Will have to see what happens next, but right now everybody’s a bit worked up regarding that.
Still alive and well.
Completely forgot about this…
Anyhoo… a lot of things happened between then and now, including Il Donaldo Trumpo’s tariffs and all that.
By cutting USAID the ANC was financially crippled severely and exposed to the harsh light of reality - apparently the money from USAID was used to fund a whole lot of other shady things.
Still alive, family’s doing well so far… got a bit of debt that’s outstanding but struggling to make ends meet in order to pay off said debt, and these Trump tariff’s not helping either…
Ah well. Kyk noord, gaan voort.
Rand/Dollar exchange is wibbling and wobbling from 1:19.10 to 1:19.70 - we all are watching and hoping it doesn’t plunge below 1:20.00 (one dollar = twenty rands)
Not blaming Trump, but the ANC government only, and their bullheaded idiocy that will exacerbate Trump tariffs.
In other news, saving up money in order to get a firearm. There’s a couple of hoops one must jump through. Hope I can get it over and done with before firearms are totally verboten.
Still here. Grumbling at the weather, instead of it being cheerful and sunny, it’s overcast and gloomy.
