I have a hard time disagreeing with this Lagerfeld guy.
If you:
A) Put millions of dollars of jewels on display
B) Broadcast it to the entire internet
C) Stay in a hotel with poor security
D) Make no attempt to hide the fact that you’re at said hotel
You bear some responsibility for someone stealing your stuff. You’re more or less inviting thieves.
Are you aware how acronyms work?
“BOGO” would stand for “Buy One, Get One”, which is not an “offer”, it’s a legal requirement.
Buy one, get one free would be BOGOF*
* Which is actually a heck of a lot funnier anyway
I don’t know if you switched to electronic cigarettes because you think it might be healthier, but I can tell you one thing: it sure ain’t less smelly than a tobacco cigarette. In fact, it’s several times more smelly than tobacco cigarettes. It is very noticable from a distance of 10-15 feet away from you. It permeates your clothes and oozes from them even when you’re just standing there. And when I’m driving and I suddenly see a solid white cloud of smoke come out of a car’s window, I immediately hit the recirculation button and hope I did it fast enough to avoid the fan bringing some of it inside my vehicle.
And some unpublished studies that are still in the finishing phases show that they are just as unhealthy as regular cigs. No real health benefit at all. And some people assert that because people think they are healthier, they actually consume more nicotine that if they smoked regular cigarettes. Not to mention all the nicotine spills, etc. I don’t allow them around my kids…never have. Just never felt safe with them.
Me and the hubby use electric cigarettes because once you’ve found a good manufacturer, they’re cleaner than cigarettes. I’m not going to try to claim they’re healthier because you’re inhaling glycerine and I’m sure that’s going to cause problems down the line. It’ll probably get a name like Sugar Lung in a couple decades time to go alongside Black Lung…
OBLIGATORY
However it does mean that our house doesn’t smell of smoke. Our clothes don’t smell of smoke. When we wake up in the morning, our mouths aren’t cesspools of chemicals and dehydration. Sure some of the flavours smell a bit funky, but we choose ones that both smell and taste pleasant to us. It’s a win all round to smokers, although I will certainly concede that to non-smokers it’s just replacing regular smoke with a peculiar smelling water-glycerine vapour.
As long as you know they are probably not healthier for you. And honestly, probably not for people inhaling the vapor either. The smell part is nice, though. I guess in forty years we will know, huh? If only we could make these studies go faster…
There’s a term for this condition I heard a few months ago. It’s going to annoy me until I remember it. The idea that because something is safer people are more reckless because they believe the safety systems will catch them.
I don’t really like to be around e-cig users any more than other tobacco products: it seems like there’s often a very sickly-sweet smell attached.
I used to kind of enjoy walking past the tobacco shop in the mall, but I’m getting less intolerant as I get older… I’m quite happy not smelling your cigarettes, pipes, cigars, e-cigs, hookas, etc.
Samsung also make washing machines - which have been recalled because of a fire risk*
They also make dryers - which have been recalled because of a fire risk.
I’m seeing a common theme here.
* You might wonder how on earth washing machines can be a fire risk (I did). Apparently their electronics were insufficiently shielded from the water in the tub. Splashes from full loads were hitting the electronics and causing shorts, which started fires.
Realistically: You make enough products with electricity in them, you will have a fire risk issue.I know Apple and Dell have had that in the past (which is probably why Apple has been relatively quiet on this issue), and it wouldn’t surprise me if other manufacturers have had similar problems.
The funny thing is Samsung has blamed the battery manufacturer. Also Samsung.
But at the time they were both using Sony batteries, and Sony offered one of thew few sincere apologies I’d ever read. I think… I think they actually meant it…
