Update on the yogurt. I ended up straining it four about 7 hours since I was at work, and it turned out wonderfully thick and creamy. I flavoured my first serving with a bit of honey and vanilla, my second serving with some hazelnut Torani’s syrup. Good stuff.
Good, I’m glad it worked out. It’s a definite go to when we find milk marked down. It might go bad as milk tomorrow, but it will last as yogurt for another week or two.
This is from yesterday, but I didn’t have a chance to visit the site yesterday: I had my first voice lesson in fifteen years (well, aside from what I’ve learned singing in two choirs with the same director for the past seven years), and I surprised myself by singing an E-flat above high C! (That’s two octaves and two and a half steps/minor third above middle C, for those who read music. If you’re familiar with opera scales, it’s an Eb6.) The night before, I was dinking around with a song from HMS Pinafore, and managed to hit a high C a few times without sounding like a total hack (or a rabbit in distress).
And yet, I’m still scared of the high A (two steps below high C). Gotta work on that…
I’m finally at a point in my skill level where I can tackle pieces like O Mio Babbino Caro and pieces from La Boheme. My hope is to become skillful enough to be a soloist in one of our Bremerton Symphony concerts. As it is, I’ll be preparing a couple of Broadway solo pieces for some independent symphony fundraisers.
Now I just need to be more intentional about practicing… Which means I need to clean out the spare room downstairs so I don’t deafen the other living things in my household.
That’s awesome!
I mean I like that you hit that high of a note, but getting back into lessons is a big deal.
1000 boxes. I’ve been waiting for these to come in, and when I put the listing back up on Etsy immediately got orders to sell 20. YAY! I guess the wedding season is kicking off.
This could have gone under web find of the day, but it’s not really a “find”, and it made me laugh.
We ate all of my first batch of yogurt. The second batch turned out just as good as the first.
Awesome, we devour the first big chunk of it and then the last always goes bad before we get to it.
That’s why I’m prepared to freeze some of it in the form of yogurt pops. I know that we’re not going to go through a gallon of milk turned yogurt a week for long. Today’s flavor mix was honey and Torani’s sugar free coconut syrup.
We finally hired a replacement for the new grad that left a month ago. She starts in a month. And the best part? It’s a former employee that we worked with before the practice got sold six years ago! No training required and I know she’s efficient and does a great job! So stoked!
It’s my Friday, even if it went till 8:45.
Oh! And not only does my main boss know about the new place, and not mind at all, they offered to help me get better pricing on things if I run into any problems, and have a standing offer of advice if needed. Truly good people.
Good to hear. $Wife has been freaking out as some staffing issues are forcing her to redo the schedule.
My future co-worker emailed me to say that she’s glad to hear I’m joining her team and offered to answer questions.
I don’t start for almost 2 weeks.
Gave blood today (donation number 97).
Tomorrow (St. Patrick’s Day), I’m not workening. I’ll be at a spot where the ladies are very friendly and the beer ain’t cheap. That’ll be what makes me happy tomorrow.
The crockpot yogurt is really a hit. My third batch is sitting in a colander straining right now.
I got Raspbian installed on the Pi 3 I bought last month.
And it’s already running PI-Hole, blocking ads by DNS for my whole network.
I’m at my parents’ house, visiting with my parents and brother and his family. Later we will visit my grandma, and tomorrow we will visit my best friend and her family. And I don’t go back to work until Tuesday.
First bike ride of spring.
I can’t do that any more, good jorb. I need to check if I can donate organs still.
In other happy making news, good short trip to Great Wolf Lodge, Ikea, and Jungle Jims this weekend. Today is my first day back to work since the 15th… and the really happy making part is this is my first real time off not related to cancer in quite a while.
