What Made You Happy Today?

Yup. That was them. But, given how often they have free specials now, there’s no reason to buy anything anymore.

I’m feeling quite smug at the moment.
A week ago I bought a couple of UPS’s. One for my NAS/router/WIFI controller/network hub. The other for my home entertainment stuff.
The one for my home entertainment stuff was overkill, but what the heck - I had the money, it wasn’t horrendously expensive and it meant that if we have a power outage then we can still watch stuff.

Well, we have had a horrendous storm over the last couple of days, and have had 3 power outages today. They didn’t last long, 10 minutes or so each, but we had heat from our wood burner and entertainment from the continuously working electronics :sunglasses:

Federer wins Wimbledon for a record 8th time.

Not only is he arguably the greatest player of all time, he comes across as a genuinely nice guy.
He doesn’t throw tantrums and is a joy to watch on a tennis court.

It couldn’t have happened to a more deserving guy.

Second camper camping trip is successful. Backing it is getting close to easy, for a given value of “easy”.

OTOH, highway gas mileage is 8 MPG at 70, and 12-14 at 60… now I know why there are so many campers on the old highways. My neighbor has been camping for 6 years, and he’s like, it’s not gas mileage, it’s just part of the cost of the trip.

I’ve been using Google Fit for a while to help with fitness / weight loss.
I have a set daily target of an hour of activity, and I’ve hit that for about 50 days in a row. I haven’t upped it because there are days you can only manage an hour and I don’t want to lose my multi-day streak
I haven’t set a steps goal, but I’ve got a non-fixed target of 8000 steps a day. I normally walk at around 100 steps a minute, so 8000 is 80 minutes walking.

For reference, on average Americans (and New Zealanders) do around 5000 steps per day, or 35,000 per week.
For the last two months I’ve been doing around 60k-70k per week, with a highest week of 87k.

This week I have just hit 105k.

tl;dr: I did a lot of exercise this week.

* My wife reckons I am losing a bit of weight, so I think it’s working

Edit: Google Fit also tells you "You were more active then {x}% of {home town}
Thiis week I was more active than 100% of my home town

Looking out the back window of my house each morning to see the progress of the lilies as they bloom.

@Lee_Ars fixed the Google sign-on so I’m back!

Aw crap. I mean… hey dak.

I’m listening to John Williams’ 1980s Superman: the Motion Picture soundtrack, and it is every bit as wonderful as I remembered. It’s probably my favorite John Williams composition.

Opened up Twitter to over a dozen positive responses to a blog post I cranked out way too late last night (and posted this morning). While I was writing, it felt like the post was a hot mess.

It’s Friday. I’m still alive, and I haven’t killed anyone with a chair.

On the whole, a good week.

So what did you kill them with?

I thought he meant that chair-holding people had nothing to fear around them. You carry a sofa in his sight and you’re looking for trouble!

On-topic: I am scheduled for an intro class at a local fab lab tomorrow.

Nice! I keep debating on signing up at Nova Labs but it’s a tad pricey when I have a lot of the equipment at home now.

I’m trying one over near Baltimore which (I hope) will be easy enough that I could run by for a session after work (or before if I switch to evening hours again). It’s not the ‘best’ from what I’ve seen, but the location is good and the cutters I think might be useful for a couple projects are a lot more than I can afford without a money-making use. I think there’s a secondary course for the plasma cutter, which is a bit out of my skill set.

One early project is re-cutting some pieces for my Mac Plus conversion, so I can re-open that thread soon.

My lawyer has “suggested” that I not answer that question.

The people carrying bar-stools had better watch out!

That’s the one thing I don’t have is any sort of laser cutter. I can get an laser engraver for my 3D printer but it won’t be strong enough or large enough for any real projects. I’d like one but like you said, they ain’t cheap and I honestly don’t have room for one.
