Hey, @Woodman started it.
I thought we moved on from this.
Well, I have to amuse myself somehow.
I got a nap during my 30-min morning commute and it was a good nap. With school starting again, itās usually impossible to find a seat on the 6:55am train, but no, a miracle arrived and there were several available.
Kevin Bacon is running for office here in town. Not THAT Kevin Bacon, but inserting his face in my thoughts when the ads are running make the political season much more enjoyableā¦
Be sure to bring up his arrest record.
My new laptop has shipped, and is now seeing more of the world than I ever did.
Itās now 00:03 Saturday morning.
Woohoo! Itās the weekend!
Happy and pissed. I signed up for a 5K in Oct so Iāve been trying to stick to my running. Fridayās we usually play basketball here at work. I got up at 4:45 so that I could come in and do my run and still play ball later. Basketball got cancelled.
But I did go down and do a second workout of lifting. So I managed to get up at the butt crack of dawn and get 2 workouts in anyways.
DT, youāre a better man than I.
My new Toshiba laptop, custom-built to my specifications. And with some help from Google, I made it look like a computer, rather than a childās tap-the-square game.
And I am glad I spent the money on LapLink. Made transferring a lot of things much easier (especially considering that my external back-up decided to throw a hissy late last night).
TIL LapLink is still a thing. But still glad that I donāt have to worry about migrations anyway.
Goblins is back September 17th!!!
Wow, thatās a blast from the past. I havenāt heard that name in a good 20 years.
Goblins? ques es esto?
works pretty well. I just wish they had said to do the disk image first, so it could be transferred over.
I also had to do a ārepairā on Orifice, because the file associations transferred over conflicted with the new version.
It even told me which applications would be incompatible with the new system. Installing from scratch seems to have fixed that, however.
For the paltry sum of $15, I have found and fixed my washing machine āleakā and quieted it down considerably.
Now I just have to wait till Thursday to take it all apart again & install the parts for the final repair, instead of the temporary workaround I did today.
Itās a subscribed email that I used to receive several years ago that has just started back up again recently. They are looking for more subscribers so I thought Iād share it here too.
Basically they periodically send out stories about good things that happen. Some of them are a bit lame, but others will make you tear up. I find it well worth subscribing.
Best run of the year, and it was in an actual race! 5K in 27:16, 8:48 pace. I have been running like crap this year.
My PR (official) is 26:51, 8:40 pace (my watch said I was a few seconds faster; they chip-timed the finish but not the start, so there was a bit of garbage time before I crossed the start line that I they counted against me).
Iāve got another race in 2 weeksā¦it might be doable. I ran it last year in 28:17 (9:07 mile), but that was on a tweaked back IIRC.
My occasional running partner at work, OTOH, crushed it. Last year she was turning in mid-8 minute miles, and this morning did a 7:23 pace (sheās been running 7:50-7:55 miles recently). Came in second in her age groupā¦behind my bossās wife.
EDIT: Soā¦it turns out that my watch was right and the course was about 600 feet short. My run wasnāt as amazing as it seemed.
He want a little crazy earlier in the year. Basically sounded like a huge case of performance anxiety mixed up with some depression and frustration. It also looks like his kickstarter game might be coming apart at the seams.
I was worried he was never coming back. Itās a hard comic to read because he publishes on such an odd schedule. Heās no Howard Taylor, who hasnāt missed an update in 12 years on a daily schedule. But heās no Giant in the Playground either at least. Though Rich is sick, but not sure what.
And there is really nothing more sad than an unfinished comic. Radioactive Panda really got me.
