What Made You Happy Today?

9 years? I’m past the two decade mark at this point. Noob.

Huh. I think I am too, or at least close to it. Scary!

I think I got on here about 25+ years ago? It was before I was married, and that was '97.

I’m a newbie and I’ve been here 8 years.

This story on Not Always Right. Pretty standard story of a misheard discussion until you get to the last sentence. I second that request.

I third it.

Just read an article that said Steven Colbert is working on a Chronicles of Amber TV series. Sounds interesting.

Hmm… I was just considering rereading that series since I just unpacked it yesterday. I’m afraid of what they might do to it.

To be honest, so am I. Bad adaptions are easy. But Colbert is a fan of the series, so that is hopefully a sign that he means to do well by it.

There are obvious challenges in doing it, but I can at least hope Colbert’s heart is in the right place.
I think a lot rides on if he plans to do just Corwin’s saga or if he plans to do the whole 10 books.

Matt Bomer as Corwin or would he make a better Eric?

Better Eric. I always imagined Corwin as a big guy. Not body builder big, but big. Probably because the books I have have Boris Vallejo covers.

I inherited a bunch of them from my dad - I’ve also been thinking of rereading them.

Gotta leave room for at least two of his brothers to be bigger.

I cannot wait to see what walking through shadow looks like. But I am afraid it will be more action adventure and less family drama and intrigue.

Idris Alba as Benedict. Maybe not technically tall enough, but has the presence.

If it ends up like WoT or any of the latest failures I will be seriously sad.

Vache has started playing this week. I was happy when he found his purr a couple montha ago. Last year was rough for him. His home was gutted as I prepared to move, he got stuck in a greenhouse for months in seriously hot weather, he had his tail ripped off, then moved around more as the house was going through the final build tasks.

Now that we’re pretty much moved in and have been stable for her last few weeks, I think he’s getting over the trauma.

Honestly I think WoT would have been much better as an animated series. Maybe get Jennifer Hale to voice Moiraine.

I don’t have to go anywhere this weekend, other than the usual places. Originally, I was going to have to take my oldest kid to Sacramento to join his cousins (my wife’s sister’s kids) to watch Monster Jam. I have no problem with that, but I do have a problem being anywhere close to her sister and her husband. I can’t stand the guy and I can’t stand the way they expect other people with them to handle their kids.

So now I get to spend a normal weekend with just my wife and kids. Much, much better.

I’ve been watching the second season of Leverage: Redemption and I kept seeing clothing with wording on them that stood out. A recent example was a man wearing a shirt that said “Jon Cleary & the Absolute Monster Gentlemen”. Another was a hat that said “Make Crawfish $1.97/lb Again”.

The first is a prominent musician in the area. The second is a real-world hat you can buy. So not is Electric Entertainment filming the show in New Orleans, they are subtly helping people and products from the area gain some exposure.

My photo club competition results meeting was tonight (I’m still on it ). Best results ever - all between 20.5 and 22.5 out of 30, and FOUR honourable mentions. And, apparently, I was one of the winners in one category. Surprised the heck out of me. The “prize winning” one (bragging rights only) was this one:
