Thatâs what I thought! I knew going in that it was paychecks only at this place, and I asked about it. The response was, âWe like to hand out paychecks.â My answer was, âYou can still hand out the paycheck stubs!â
Oh, well. I donât see it changing any time soon, so Iâll just have to get used to it. At least I donât have to take the thing to the bank, since Iâm using 21st century tech.

I feel a little bad that Iâve got two paychecks from New Job sitting in my bag because I havenât had a chance to go to the bank. Hopefully at lunch time today.
The wifeâs job only started offering direct deposit this year. It surprised me, as for many companies it is mandatory.
Your bank doesnât let you deposit checks by picture? My credit union has an app that allows check deposits that way.
Only took me 20 minutes to replace DHâs battery in his truck. And the alternator checked out ok on my voltmeter (multimeter - best Christmas present ever!!), though we will still have the parts store put their tester system on to check the entire electrical system. Now hoping it was just a dead/bad battery and not something stuck in the âonâ position that we canât findâŚ

I guess they might have. Until recently my âdaily driverâ cell phone was company owned, so I didnât install much on it, specifically things like financial apps.
At least I did have time to get out to the bank today, since Iâm still NewGuy at this job and thus left in the dark when thereâs an unrelated migration Iâm not involved in. (Actually, instead of sitting around all night for this batch, I get to help on the AM shift when the small issues come in.)
What took so long? Or are you including time to go to the store, buy the new battery, and come back home to do it?
When I was in the Army back in 1992, one of the first things they made us do was get an account and set up automatic deposit.
When I was in the Navy in 1985, they had their own ATM cards (only usable at machines on the ship or on base), and we could access our money the night before payday.
Thereâs a bar that holds the lid on the cooling box that is over the battery, and then a clamp on the bottom holding the battery in. And some of it was finding the right size sockets and dragging out my adjustable wrench because one spot was too tight for the socket wrench. Meanwhile there was only enough room or three or four clicks of the socket so it took forever. And I had to soak half the bolts in wd-40 to loosen and lubricate them. All one handed while talking to my dad on the phone for safety purposes as I was home alone and no neighbors around in case of emergency. Not to mention the fact that the terminals were on the back of the battery, not the top, which increases the difficulty by a factor of three. Especially when youâre not quite 5â2" tall. 
My truck has everything on top so its so much easierâŚ

I know when $Wife was $Date we had trouble on trips sometimes because she didnât get paid until mid-week. If youâre tight on cash, it can really suck not getting paid automatically.
