Bye bye cheese car.
Yep. The cheese car had engine issues that were going to cost too much to fix.
Too much mozzarella?
I got black Friday deals on a stove and over-the-range microwave. I had not planned on also buying and installing a new upper cabinet, but it was necessary. The whole job took a lot longer than I had planned. Iām happy with the end result, though! Before (a couple years ago) and after picturesā¦
I donāt have it in my possession yet, but itās a 50" screen, just like the one itās replacing. Got a great Cyber Monday deal on Amazon. My old Samsung DLP has these annoying white dots all over the screen, which means the mirrors are failing, so it was time for an upgrade. This one is a Vizio. Also the term ā4Kā bothers me because itās marketing speak. Theyāre not measuring the same thing as with the previous generation of TVs. It should be called 2160p. But I get that they want to make people think itās 4 times as good instead of twice.
I dunno. Gratch and I bought a 4k last year and you can really tell the difference sometimes. Its hooked up to the HTPC so I can actually test it and show a real 4k file.
Heās coming from 720p DLP. Anything modern will be a huge improvement.
Source: Had a 720p DLP. Even bumping up to 1080p LED-backed LCD was impressive.
Got a Huawei Mediapad T1-701u on contract four months ago.
Very impressed with it, the battery life is excellent and it is nimble and performs well.
One feature I like about it is that it will shut 3G down after a certain period of inactivity, so battery drain is so much less. Downside is that whatsapps/gtalk/etc doesnāt come through, but I donāt care, as the only time 3G is not in use is when I sleep. Great not to get woken up by incoming messages or the suchā¦ and itās also a great excuse to ignore work-related emails, especially over weekends. Muhuhahaha.
@dakboy, my current one is actually 1080p.
My new shiny is on hold because ā3-5 business daysā becomes 2-3 weeks when a large financial establishment is giving you money that they would much rather stayed in their holding account earning them interest.
For those interested, the new shiny when it DOES happen is a gaming Z87 flavour PC mit GeForce 970* and a case that looks like a PS2 (console, not that IBM thing) ate too many cheeseburgers. Obviously the case was chosen first, so as to integrate well into a collection of Sony consoles
Āŗ thereās an actual, tangible difference between the x60 and x70 cards this time round, which is a nice surprise because theyāve also shrank the price gap, at least here in the UKā¦
Bought a 2-in-1 HP to be the family lappy. Happy with the specs and that it came with Win10 Pro instead of Home, especially for $550. Any regular lappy had worse specs and flimsier (is that a word?) casing.
Might be the same one I got for the wife (ostensibly for Christmas, but sheās already using it)ā¦ around $550 after $250 off at Best Buy - screen flips around 360 (I donāt love leaving the keyboard exposed, but hey), i5, 8GB, 1TB.
Yeah, sounds like the same one, except we got a 128GB SSD instead of the 1TB of data. Frankly, all of our data is housed on my desktop and multiple external HDDs, so the local storage isnāt really necessary. Thinking about getting the kids their own Google Drive account so they can save their schoolwork there.
EDIT: Itās really for the wife. The kids will get limited access when they need to for schoolwork or when my oldest gets to try out Minecraft.
The 4K TV is installed and itās beautiful. Fallout 4 looks amazing now.
Congratulations. Which of the boys is that for? /duck
Havenāt purchased it yet, but Iām looking at upgrading computer cases from my Rosewill Challenger to an NZXT H440 Silent. While the Challenger has done wonderfully for me, it collects dust so easily (itās entire front face is a grate), and itās a pain in the arse to clean effectively. I especially love the compartmentalized PSU, which helps cause I havenāt invested in a modular PSU yet. I can tuck away those extra cables easily. Too bad, Amazon is out of stockā¦
My Christmas present was a family trip to Chicago and then The Blue Man Group.
Awesome show.
I got a Kreg Joiner a while back. Finally got a chance to use it a week ago. I am a believer, Iām putting two pieces of wood together and they donāt wobble. I made a 4āx8ā frame out of 2x2" wood and it doesnāt wobble or shimmy. We slapped some chicken wire on it and now the girls have a mobile home. The chickens are now cleaning out the crap from the garden and preparing it for Spring.
Iāll post pictures later. But this tool https://www.kregtool.com/store/c13/kreg-jigsreg/p35/kreg-jigreg-k4-master-system/ is going to make some serious changes in how I build things, and now Iām looking forward to making some shelves.
Edit: And speaking of chickens, weāre getting about 6 eggs a day out of 7 birds. Four ginormous brown eggs from the Golden Comets, one light brown smaller egg from our Barred Rock, and one of the Araconas is finally laying a pretty light green egg. And they all taste awesome.
Yep, the Kreg is a neat answer to a whole bunch of tricky situations. I used it to mount horizontal 2x4s in my new shed, then mounted a rail for hangers to them. If I didnāt use the Kreg stuff, Iād have had to toenailā¦ and Iāve never liked toenailing. This is an elegant solution.
