My new tablet. I really, really, shouldnāt have bought it, but my old tablet has been a bit quirky and crashing a lot lately. Iāve done a restore to factory specs, but itās still quirky. It only has 32 GB onboard memory, but I have a 128 GB micro sd card, and it supports up to a 512 GB card.
Edit: It only has 16 GB memory.
Neat, congrats!
I was tempted by the Lenovo Yoga tablet when I was shopping for one in the āholiday crazy shopping dealsā time last year, because it also had a handle bump thingy on one long edge. That you can snap on a keyboard there makes it even more versatile!
I think Iām going to like the round grip. Itās due to be delivered on Saturday, and I canāt wait to actually play with it.
Yet another post I read totally out of context. Seemed a bit TMI until I remembered what you were talking about.
Thatās what she said.
I got some SATA cables.
Beat me to it.
The installation was a breeze considering that I havenāt done anything like this in years. I usually open cases nowadays for cleaning and adding RAM sticks. The supplied cables were pretty thick so the wire management was a bit cumbersome. I do have the GPU cable tucked away for now since the current one (GTX 750) just runs off the power from the PCI. More important was the time spent doing this with my son. He mostly just held a flashlight, but he was looking around inside and asking some questions.
I finally pulled the trigger on a new phone - Moto X, customized with a black leather back and 64GB.
Iāve been chomping at the bit since I ordered it, but it isnāt due to arrive until Wednesday.
They had a special going for a couple days last week for a free first generation Moto 360 watch, so I ordered one with a leather band.
I liked the look of the metal band, too, but it weighs more than twice as much. Plus, metal bands rarely fit me well - theyāre always too loose or too tight and end up feeling annoying.
As a life-long wearer of round-faced watches, yet Galaxy Gear Live owner, Iād like your thoughts on the 360.
Iāll let you know!
My wife has a Moto 360 and she loves it. Itās the only watch she found that didnāt look ridiculous on her very small wrists.
She has a bit of ADD, with the memory issues that go with that and being able to just stop and tell her watch to remind her to do something means that this problem is greatly reduced. It also means that when her phone (a Moto G) has a notification (text, phone call, reminder etc) it just vibrates on her wrist rather than making a noise. As a teacher this is a very good thing as it is way less disruptive.
There are a couple of things that are not so optimal, YMMV.
It works best over Bluetooth, not so well over WiFi. This means that when she is wearing the watch she has to keep her phone with her. This was a problem initially as she doesnāt have pockets big enough to hold her phone. She ended up buying a belt pouch (yes, I know thatās very 1980ās, but it works) and a very small shoulder bag for when she isnāt wearing a belt.
The phone battery lasts less than half the time mine does - about 16-18 hours. If she tries to play any games on her phone then the battery doesnāt last the day - and Iām talking games like solitaire and sudoku here, not anything sophisticated. I suspect it is a combination of running Bluetooth all day and a couple of apps she has installed, but she wonāt let me touch her phone to see if I can fix it.
The audio pickup mostly works pretty well, but can have problems if we have a bit of background noise - in the car for example. The phone works a lot better for this, but that sort of defeats the purpose of having the watch.
These issues are annoyances only and definitely donāt stop her using and loving the watch.
Iāve been meaning to move over to a modular PSU for some time. Itās just too convenient to have only the cables you need floating around in there. I can only imagine the airflow is so much better. Itās probably the next upgrade I go for.
I remember building my first computer years ago, and then having to replace a graphics card because 64MB wasnāt doing it for me anymore and I wanted to be able to play Starcraft (at least, I believe it was around that time). Assuming heās interested in that sort of thing, itās a great bonding experience. I only hope I can pass it to my daughters when they grow up a little more.
Most of the ratās nest of wires on the old power supply I have pictured outside the case werenāt even being used and were tied to the side of the case. Yeah, itās nice having the convenience of using only the cables you need. However, the EVGA supplied cables were very thick since I believe some have inline capacitors in them. I have the excess cables stuffed in the upper bay above the optical drive with the GPU cable stuffed above the HD. Also, the distance between the HD and optical drive forced me to use 2 SATA chains, but thatās a minor issue. Iād certainly go modular again.
Itās now ready for the GPU upgrade I had planned for later this year. Due to an unexpected work bonus I received on Monday, that upgrade has now been pushed up to this Thursday. Iāll probably do an SSD upgrade instead later this year, which is probably the best performance upgrade I have left to do. Thatās probably the scariest upgrade for this relative computer novice to do.
My son (a high school freshman) is just getting into robotics, currently as a programmer. Iām very proud of him. He says he doesnāt need to worry about the state of the PC, since Iām around.
I like it so far. I was a little worried that the size would be too much, but it fits inside my shirt cuffs just fine. It has not made me uncomfortable at all. And Iām loving the Moto X, very shiny.
Installed everycircuit on my droid, and like it lots!
Now I can experiment to my heartās contents with small and simple electric diagrams without worrying about burning something out.
Have installed the same for the ooklets so that they can also experiment with things.
What really is nice is that there is a community library, you can grab somebody elseās design and see how things work and so on.
Great learning experience.
Will let them play for a while till they have got the basics down, then take a shufty at electronic shops to see what they sell in kit form, ready for assembly, then assemble it with the ooklets.
Everycircuit? Why did no one ever tell me about this?
Cool. everycircuit.com/app in your Chrome browser.
