Don’t forget the call ducks, and piranha/tilapia hidden in the indoor moat. Oh, and the mesmerizing grey peacock pheasants!
Technically it’s not new, or particularly shiny, but today I met my father at a notary and signed the deed for the house I’m living in (which is also the same house I grew up in). Now it just needs to get recorded with the courthouse and I’ll technically be a homeowner.
Initiate panic mode.
Ventoy.
RIP Rufus, you was good, but Ventoy is better.
Not actually a new shiny, but it looks like our house sold, which means incoming new shiny of unusual size.
playing around with fiber channel, have to suss it out…
Today I discovered Tamarind Sauce.
There are no words to describe how amazing it makes chibrek
Baaah, fiber channel not wekkin. Seems you have to purchase a copy of TrueNAS professional (not core) in order for it to work as well as get some config done on VMWare ESXi, and I did not had the luxury of time.
Anyway, got iSCSI set up, developers can now work again on a Frankenserver setup, new server should be in end of this month. (Dell server hosting development environment borked due to some memory subsystem issues, lost two VMs from that).
Veeam Backup Agent for doing a sterling job in allowing me to recover the two borked VMs (in the post above) and have a Good Weekend without having to do a reinstall of win10.
Now I just have to figure out what the hell I’m doing… ![]()
Veeam is great!
I’ve just been given a demo of Cohesity - seems we may be going to that. Looks really good too!
A friend of mine does this at her store, Ifs, Ands, or Buttons.
Cool - thanks! She’s got some neat stuff on there.
$daughter’s new phone arrived. Will be taking it down to her when I’m going for my visit in April.
Easier to have the courier deliver it to my office and me taking it down than to get the courier to deliver it in the sticks. Plus I get to see if everything works as it should in case it need to be returned.
Uncapped mobile data. No more worrying about running out of data.
I was trying to find a solution to not being able to find a decent-sized Android tablet with LTE. I figured I’d get the smallest, cheapest Android phone I could and use that as a hotspot for a WIFI tablet with decent specs. The idea of having to deal with 2 devices and get software workarounds for SMS and all the headaches that would cause …
I said, “Screw it”.
I just shelled out a hell of a lot of money for a new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G. I hope to have it in my little hands sometime this week.
The decision was painful, but I’ll be paying it off over the next 2 years. It also came with a 2 year care plan and 2 bonus S-pens that are specific to this model.
It actually weighs less than the Tab A I’m using right now. This new folding form-factor is going to be interesting. This is the third generation for this model and they seem to have it figured out now.
Turned 12 gallons of Maple Sap into just under a quart of Maple Syrup. Not for sale, just for fun.
There is something kind of contemplative and relaxing about boiling sap.

Sorry. I don’t make videos anymore.
Not since ‘the incident’.
No problem then, mate.
All good.
Purchased a Redmi 9C for Ooklet v1.00
Oceanhorn renders beautifully, phone feels snappy, and got enough storage space for her. (64Gb). She can also procure an SD card for extra storage should she need it.
Gotta love the fingerprint sensor at the back though (I also have one on my Redmi Note 8), quick way to unlock the phone. First thought it was the biggest gimmick, but it is quite useful, especially when a bank app also uses it for authentication.
