Just for @MSUAlexis

April is Pet First Aid Month and here’s a story where knowing how to give pets CPR saved the life of a very young kitten.

The right person adopted the cat and a few hours after being adopted, the cat settled in and was relaxed.

Omg people totally think this. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve heard “but they are siblings and they know it! They wouldn’t do that!!”

I am pretty sure these people are related to the client that told me there was no way their dog ate that poison because they showed it to the dog and told it not to eat it. :woman_facepalming:t3:

Or the guy who knew his dog would have ten puppies because, and I quote, “she got ten titties don’t she?”

These people reproduce. :exploding_head:

If we’re ever able to meet up in person you need to ask my wife about the time she had to explain how to get a sperm same from a dog. Male owner. I think there were hand gestures the last time I heard the story.

Then I can tell her how many men I’ve had to explain the concept of male nipples to. :exploding_head:

So you’ve dealt with men who were about as useful as teats on a boar?

I had to stomp on a community post the other day complaining about veterinarian prices saying vets just don’t care and will let your pet die.

I have two good friends that are vets and I know damn well both care a bit too much. I have seen the staff when a pet is put down, even mine when it was her first visit there and they damn well care.

As well as the fact that they were comparing the price they paid with people insurance to the price they paid for pet care. And many were suggesting pet insurance, which in my opinion will just make prices worse overall.

Just generally fuck them.

People insurance is kind of a scam too. I lost insurance in Feb. and it doesn’t make sense to get insurance in CA since I’m moving soon, and I can’t get insurance in OR because I’m not actually a resident yet. Because of this, I’m not going to be able to get health insurance until November. I can’t afford one of my perscriptions, so I’m going to have to do without.

Edit: Back on topic, veterinarians do care. They often charge the least they can and still stay in business. A lot of people don’t understand how much the equipment, drugs, and just surgical skill cost.

Yeah, all of this.

I had a client yesterday get upset and threaten to come get her dying cat I had hospitalized bc I hadn’t called her all day. I had passed on updates through the staff several times, but owner calls are made as possible and end of the day. I finally called her, gave her the update (her cat is fine), and reminded her that I did not get on the phone with her each of the FIVE times she called bc we have a full appointment schedule, emergencies, and take walkins. Just like we did with her when she walked in 15 minutes before we even opened. We also had a blocked cat, a dog that ate Roundup, a puppy whose leg was rotting off bc the owner never came for splint rechecks, a dog with a foot pad that had been sliced in half, five surgeries, and routine stuff sprinkled in between. All while the computers weren’t working great and one less Dr than we normally have. But yeah, lady, I was totally ignoring your needs.

I wonder if this is derivative of the breast implants that are so big you wonder if they just have air in them.

This Image Is The Chuckle We Needed Today (linked in case you want to go to the site.

I took a call from a woman wanting to schedule a neuter for her Italian Greyhound. We had a long, rational discussion about anesthesia, pricing, pre- and post-op considerations, etc. I’d entered her and her dog’s information, scheduled the appointment, advised her regarding fasting, and was about to hang up when she just had one more question.

Woman: “Just out of curiosity, do you remove the testicles completely, or is it that new thing I’ve heard about where you just deflate them?”

I managed to answer the question and hang up before I burst out laughing, but I couldn’t get the picture out of my head of our doctor poking the dog’s scrotum with a needle and the dog flying around the room like a balloon.

I now have images of a dog flying around going prrrrrrffffffftttt like a looney tunes character

I need to learn more about how dogs are trained to detect smells that humans can’t. This one saved a life because he could. Wait. Two lives.
