Hunh, I have the same instinct. If I don’t get up and get rolling I’m in trouble.
That’s one of the penalties to married life. I used to wake up and turn all teh lights on and start some music. Now I sneak out of bed, and I still don’t play music even after I make it into the bathroom most of the time.
@Woodman’s mention of Mt. Dew in another thread reminded me…
I went to Fuddruckers for lunch a couple days ago. In the funky touch-screen soda dispenser machine, they had Mello Yello. MELLO YELLO!!! Dang, I hadn’t had that in a looong time. It was GREAT! I don’t remember seeing in stores around here, like, ever. I used to drink it as a kid - before I moved to Texas and when I went back east to visit family.
As a bonus, when my co-worker went up to refill his drink, one of the soda machines was rebooting. I understand they have a metric crapload of choices because you can add (cherry, grape, lemon, lime, raspberry, strawberry, IknowI’mmissingsome) flavor to almost every variety, but I’m not sure I’m sold on it necessitating a touch screen and the risk of BSOD.
Mello Yello has been dropping back into our market here in So Cal. I’m happy as, like you @RoadRunner, I used to drink this as a kid. Still some retailers that don’t carry it quite yet, but it’s getting there. Apparently, it’s been on the East Coast all along.
Oh yeah, it sure has. (Edit: …has been on the East coast all along.) I’ve been in Texas over 30 years now but most of my family is still back east. I don’t go every year, like I did when I was a kid, but grabbing a few is always a treat when I’m there. Next time I go for groceries, I’ll have to take a long look at the soda aisle & see if they have a spot for it.
I wish my cats would stop having massive diarrhea. Since I got them from the pound they have both had diarrhea. $300+ into it at the vet one of them is now approaching near solid cow patty poop, while the other one is a hot chocolate dispenser. I start my day cleaning up 5-6 spots on the floor. And I come home from work and clean up 3-4 more the girls “didn’t see” when they came home.
One more shot this weekend. Another stool sample, a liquid wormer, and super hypoallergenic food. Another $100 or so to see what’s up. After that it’s pour another $300 into them or find another solution.
Since October, not bad at first, seemed like a kitten thing. But then it never went away, and got worse, and one of the cats is really uncomfortable, so I switched foods, which didn’t help. And then on of, or both, the cats decided the litter box was what was causing the pain.
And I’ve been back and forth to the vet since February. They were put on a medication which seems to help, but apparently there is a maximum lifetime dosage or something and they’ll get real messed up if we just keep giving it to them. I’d like to just lace their food with kaopectate and see what that does.
Geez, that’s a mess. I’d be inclined to try the kao, too, unless someone told me that would be very bad.
You know, like a real vet.
Like @MSUAlexis, maybe.
It’s nice to be missed. I went a while without turning on my computer. Quick rule: you may assume I’m dead if my twitter (@sigspace) doesn’t do anything for a week, since that’s mostly tablet-based activity for me.
So, EBay start going public about their breach on Wednesday, and make a less than stellar job of it.
Today, 4 days later, I finally get my vaguely worded “something bad happened” email. It’s ok though, because the password was encrypted, but I should change it anyway.
Many organisations can manage a timely notification, that’s well written. This certainly fails to achieve the first of those, and I don’t think it comes close to the second either. There’s also the fact that if you don’t visit the main EBay page, the warning goes from being a moderately sized banner, to a small, orange, flag at the top.
Basically, some time last week eBay started going public with the fact that they’ve been compromised and everbody’s data is gone. eBay have been slowly bringing the breach to people’s attention (well, sort of).
In short, if you have an eBay account, change the password - and anywhere else you use the same password. They’ve said that PayPal isn’t affected, but given how poorly this has been handled so far, I’d change it anyway.
OK. Step one is always a fecal with giardia Elisa and O&P. Make sure it goes to an outside lab since in-hospital fecals are notoriously unreliable even with a centrifuge. Step two - add a probiotic like Florazil or Fortiflora to the food -every vet has a favorite. Step three is do a five day course of panacur just in case the stool samples have too few eggs to show up - many of the parasites are contagious to humans so we like the fecal check as well, but sometimes we treat regardless of the results. Step four is often low-dose metronidazole for around a month. Then we start getting into food intolerances and “zebras”. At this point I would think about a fecal pcr or maybe just a three week treatment of clindamycin for toxoplasmosis. And blood work to make sure there is not underlying condition, though if its both cats then organ issues are less likely. As a glummer of hope, we deal with a ton of shelter and pet store kittens (and all of the pet store’s kittens are litters that the shelters couldn’t take in) and a lot of these cats outgrow it. Consider changing to adult food if they are over six months…that will limit some of the fat content. And no wet food for now.
That will be $300 please. Keep me posted on how things go!
We’ve done two fecals now. And the lab one will be done the second time today. They’ve found nothing, and they really played with the one Saturday.
We have the probiotic, I keep forgetting to use it. We did metronidazole, once for 5 days, the second time for 8 or so. The Metro seemed to help a lot, but ran out before they we’re totally better both times.
Now I’m doing hypoallergenic diet and some liquidy chalky stuff that they hate with a passion. They love clawing the shit out of me and spitting it on me.That’s awesome.
As a side note, I got a horrible case myself a couple weeks ago, finally went to the doctor after 5 miserable days and they told me if they treated it it would get better in a week, and if they didn’t I’d get better in 7 days.
