Random Musings (and associated non sequiturs) v. 3.0

I’ve heard several people (as well as you) call it an introvert’s dream, and I fully agree. My wife is starting to get over it, but she has been on holiday for the last 2 weeks* and I’m hoping that it’ll improve for her now that she has something more to do.

* New Zealand brought the school holidays forward by 2 weeks because of our lock-down. They have a teacher-only day today and back into it properly tomorrow. Though what form that is going to take with everyone at home isn’t fully settled yet.

I probably shouldn’t have had a piece of cheesecake followed by a cup of coooffffeee…

I do as well. I haven’t left my house in over a month, and I’m loving it. Not having to go to the office and deal with the bright-ass lights and other people in person is SO much better that I may actually be genuinely somewhat sad once this is all over.

That being said, I did happen to order a mask (well, 3 actually, but I figure keeping the roommates safe keeps me safe) as a just-in-case measure.

I’m waiting for a couple of tools to arrive so I can finish up a couple of new leather masks. They’re going to be half-face with breather holes, with a small lip on the inside to put a removable panel for probably custom cut coffee filters.

This is the one I bought:

They claim the filter inserts are N95 quality and have activated charcoal, how well they stick to that…I’ll find out, I guess. They’re not ideal since they have the exhalation vents, but I’d prefer that to a fully-sealed one since those tend to fog up my glasses fairly easily. Also, they look kinda cyberpunk as fuck, and that’s neat.

I’m pretty much the same. I’ve been usening my woodworking mask which has the valves and active carbon filters. Of course, the company is completely sold out of all product, but you can probably find them on Amazon. I got the electric green one because it was on sale back when I bought it and figured nobody else would ever see it but me.

I’ve finally pulled the trigger on a baklava. If it’s just to keep me from touching my face and contain my own droplets I’m better off with something I’m comfortable in than a used N95.

Not quite sure how pastry is keeping you from touching your face…seems like it would encourage it instead

Yeah, that face thing.

You know what you need? A classic movie where the main character goes through the same thing you are. George learn how easy it is to become java junkie.

That scene was exactly what I had in mind. You’re the first person to get it, it seems.

Nope. No idea.

Balaclava, but I knew what you meant. Full hood version of a neck gaiter.

Being lazy was word of the day on that one. They arrived in Indiana yesterday, so hopefully tomorrow I can stop wearing that manky N95.

And maybe by Wednesday I can stop going to hardware stores every day. Though I’ve been told that as soon as I’m done with the house I’m wanted back at work.

Rizak, watch out for that tree!

Now it’s stuck in my head…

So today was day 1 of 5 for being off work. Turn on TV to find something interesting to watch. Spot Futurama. It’s the episode where Fry gets a cold and it spreads like wildfire because it was wiped out years ago and no one has any immunity to it.

Trying not to take this as a sign.

hehe, enjoy

Kind of reminds me of a recent run at the game Surviving Mars in which a mid-game “Mystery” is randomly selected and is basically a challenge the player needs to deal with or their colony fails.

I got one which is a massive virus that is very annoying. If you mess up badly you can end up with your colony surviving, but Earth being… unavailable.
