I just had to nip to the agricentre for some catfood and pony carrots (cause who doesn’t want 10kg of carrots for the same price as a supermarket charges for 500g?) and the mains sewer has ruptured.

Now this wouldn’t be so bad were this a gravity pulled sewer, but down on the plains they use pumps to keep it moving on the flat…

…which of course means there’s now a fountain of effluence spraying 16ft up out of the field alongside the road. It smells cholera-iffic.

I pity the poor sod who have that thankless and sodding job to clean up and repair…

Central Indiana is a no snow zone this year. Areas north, east, west, and south have all had significant snowfall. Snow storms and fronts are literally hitting the Illinois/Indiana border and turning a hard left or right and then sweeping back down into central Ohio.

I’m over it. It’s ugly as sin in Indiana in the winter, need some snow to cover that shit up.

You can have ours if you want. We got 55 cm (about 22 inches) where I live - the highest amount in the province. We haven’t had snow like that for over a decade.

The Tencent Video streaming site in China decided that Fight Club needed a new ending. They decided to go the “Poochie died on the way back to his home planet” route and cut the scene where things start blowing up. Instead, viewers are shown this on screen:

“Through the clue provided by Tyler, the police rapidly figured out the whole plan and arrested all criminals, successfully preventing the bomb from exploding. After the trial, Tyler was sent to lunatic asylum receiving psychological treatment. He was discharged from the hospital in 2012.”

Ah China, can’t possibly have a story where people disillusioned by The System succeed in blowing it up, no! That’s thoughtcrime to even consider it a possibility!

Welcome, Willow, the first COTUS (Cat of the United States) in over a dozen years.

Hope she and Commander, the new German shepherd puppy that was brought to the White House in December after Major didn’t adjust well to the new surroundings, do well together.

Does Creflo mean beg, steal or a combination of the two?

@Force10 will understand this question. What’s the white stuff in the background of my new house?

I have run a small group for church for several years now. These people are sometimes closer than family. And one of the couples has a son that is going through what appears to be a psychotic break. At 8 years old or so. Didn’t sleep for flour days, ran off Tuesday morning in only a Tshirt. They got him to the emergency room for a 7 hour wait, mostly people saying they had Vivid who weren’t admitted, to be told that they couldn’t do anything for him. He finally slept last night, and I hope his parents and brother got some today.

They have to try to get a regular appointment for a psyche evaluation and frankly just try to survive until then. As a small group there isn’t much we can do end except offer help, but its hard to see it happen to them.

I hope he gets the help he needs. Having people around who are willing to help, even if they can’t actually does help, if that makes sense.

The whole family showed up for sledding Friday, things seemed mostly normal. He threw A bit of a fit after a little bit but they all got to pretend things were normal for a while.

Somehow it is now national news that a man is using a vintage medium format camera to take photographs.

This is the world we live in. Using analogue technology is somehow praiseworthy. Now, I’m not being mean to the photographer, he’s taking some really nice photographs and props to him, but seriously now. This was higher in the “most watched” list than the winter olympics

I should get some K120 film, I have a Brownie 2 from 1928 on my shelves and the mechanism still works even if the viewfinder is borked… maybe I’ll be on the ten o’clock news!

Do they still make 110 film? I’m sure I’ve got an old camera kicking around at the bottom of a drawer somewhere.

Yup, Lomography still makes it. The problem may be finding somewhere that can develop it.

It’s funny - our “guest” speaker (who was actually one of the members) at my camera club last Wednesday gave a talk on exactly this; how to take and develop analogue pictures with “tilt” cameras.

This is why I’m gonna shoot in monochrome, far far easier to develop at home. I’ve done it before with a pinhole camera and it was fun watching the image appear by magic on the plates. Fun and complicated and this time I’m going to do it in an easily-vented space…
