Random Musings (and associated non sequiturs) v. 3.0

Doesn’t anyone else ever start writing a comment/reply (here or elsewhere), thin’ better of it, but finish writing the comment before hitting the cancel/delete button?

Can’t say that I have.

All. The. Time.

Often it’s because I just need to get it out of my head so that it’s not bothering me anymore. Then I close the window so it’s gone.

And sometimes, I’ll actually hit Submit, then delete it. And hope that the person I’m replying to gets the notification, but never actually sees what I wrote. Just to mess with them.

God help me, I’m doing it now!

Can I interest anyone in the opportunity to ship me Weetabix (or for the Australians, Weet-Bix)?
It’s crazy, and it’s stupid. There is a Weetabix shortage in Canada and the US because the workers are only working 1 day a week to protest what they say are unfair business practices where the company just wants to fire everyone and hire new people for less. Standard stuff.
I thought it was a bit of a lark last year when I bought a box of Weet-Bix from Amazon just so my wife could see the difference after watching a funny video.

Now, I haven’t been able to find any in the stores for months. I just ordered 2 family-size boxes from England that will hold us for a while.
I know how dumb this is, okay? I know. It’s dumb.
Still, if someone could help a brother out … $50/box plus shipping was fine when it was a one time joke.
Go check Amazon. I’ll wait.

We should have Weet-Bix in our stores. You can check on takealot and amazon (should they be able to ship from ZA to you is another matter)…

After a bit more searching, I might have to do the unthinkable and go shopping at a Walmart nearby to see if they have some.

Kick a Karen for us should you see one!

Hallmark Channel, you just had to take the nuclear option, didn’t you? How am I supposed to tell everyone to pumpkin spice all the things if you eclipse it with a movie titled ā€œPumpkin Everythingā€?

25 degrees Fahrenheit is cold. It’s up to 31 outside now. The sun is finally coming up, and it’s up to 40 in the greenhouse. It feels positively toasty in comparison.

I think I have the answer. Someone that was just driving down the street has a horn on their car or truck that sounds like a train horn. I think this is what happened during the middle of the night back then.

Great. So not only can someone have an obnoxiously loud exhaust system (Muffler? Never heard of 'em.) and a stereo system that makes their car vibrate so much it sounds like the car’s farting, they can add a train horn and remove all doubt that they’re being a jerk.

No, Google, I am not interested in buying one of these horns. I only looked at the site to confirm that’s the kind of place this annoyance comes from.

Now that I’ve been using a bidet for a couple months, I never want to go back to TP ever again. I also love not sitting on a cold seat. Full on warm feels weird, but on the lowest heat setting it’s simply not cold.

I can’t wait until the master bathroom is done. The bidet in there is really fancy and has a dryer feature that I look forward to.

I know what you mean. Since my roommates bought a bidet for the upstairs bathroom, I’ve been seriously considering buying another one for the downstairs.

Don’t cheap out. If you can get a Toto brand one, go for it. They even have a self cleaning function. Talk about a completely hands free experience.

I don’t know what brand our current one is but it works. Dual nozzle, includes a self-cleaning function. Doesn’t have any seat heater or water heater involved though.

The water heater is really nice too.

These are the ones I got:

Rebuild gearbox will be back tomorrow.

Now comes the issue of finding the money for the repairs.

Do they take nuts, kidneys and legs as payment?

Not sure if this belongs here or in the Things That Suck thread. @RRabbit42 posted about the eight girls who killed a man in Toronto on the RIP thread. I work in Toronto and, when I need to be in the office, often commute into the station mentioned in the story. I know the intersection it happened at - University and York - well; heck I’ve walked through it many, many times. I may have even walked past the victim before. The thing is, we’re not talking about a sketchy neighbourhood here. It’s a vibrant area with lots restaurants and one of the oldest and, arguably, poshest hotels right at that intersection. And that makes me wonder if that’s part of the reason this is getting so much more press - especially international press - than if it had happened in one of the ā€œbadā€ neighbourhoods like Jane and Finch. I know that the age of the girls and the senselessness of the crime is a factor but, still, I look at the coverage of murders in other areas versus the coverage of this one, and I wonder.
