Darn, I’m out of your jurisdiction.
Just a wee bit, CWX.
Where the hell are these crickets or cicadas that I’m hearing all of a sudden?
Or did the cockroaches in this town watch too many Mickey Rooney/Judy Garland movies and decide to “let’s put on a show!”?
WordPress metrics says that post has been invaded by Canadia. (Canuckistan?)
So, today marks 130 years that Lady Liberty has been an illegal immigrant.

My daughter has been driving my wife’s car for several weeks with no radiator fluid. She also has had muffler problems for months and didn’t notice until I said something last week, muffler problems as in it’s hard to hold a conversation next to the car when it sits idling.
And the mirror she broke is still broken because she can’t bother to leave the car home long enough for me to fix it. And I won’t touch the damn thing unless she’s there to be the fetch and carry girl.
Also, the windows that don’t roll up and down have been left partially down for so long that the pile of crap in the back of the car was molding. The windows that can be pushed up with one hand and will stay closed for a week or so, longer if you bother to wedge them shut or tape them as was demonstrated in the past.
And the back window is so far out of the canvas I’m surprised a family of opossums hasn’t moved in, a much trickier task that she’s been shown multiple times, and could complete to a 80% standard, but has never even bothered to try to fix.
God makes you love your children so you don’t kill them out of hand. As it is, I’m about to just take the car back. Though I wonder if it’s worth it at this point.
I remember when my cousin lost his privileges to use my uncle’s car.
The deal was that he could use the car in the evenings that my uncle was not working or on alert (my uncle was a firefighter).
My uncle got home one evening a little late, and his son started bitching about that. My uncle ignored it. Five minutes later, his son comes barging back into the house, offended that my uncle hadn’t filled the tank on the way home. My uncle simply told him he couldn’t use the car anymore.
Two days later, my cousin has a friend drop him off at the fire station and tries to drive off with the car. Luckily, two other firefighters spotted him and stopped him.
Not only did he get grounded, he was dragged into the backyard by his three older sisters and his two older brothers (yeah, big family) who took him to task for his behavior.
He tried to get sympathy from me, but I reminded him that I was a year older than him and still didn’t have a license because my folks wouldn’t let me drive their cars for practice, even though they had to be in the car with me because I had a learner’s permit.
The topping on all this was at Christmas, all the cousins of learner’s permit age and up each gave him a cheap knock-off of a Matchbook car.
It’s amazing how fast a privilege morphs into a right.
I’m still waiting for some teenager to sue the DMV (or local variant) for not giving him/her a license, as a “civil right violation”. And then all hell will break out.
And I’ll have my popcorn at the ready.
Hell, Indiana keeps pushing the age farther and farther back. I’m tempted to help some teen sue. The state is put together in such a way that 90% of people can’t work without a vehicle, therefore pushing back the driving age is severely limiting the ability of young people to save for college or really anything else.
Right now it’s 16 and a half, they are talking about pushing it to 17 and a half. WTF? Especially in a state where some people learn to drive a tractor at 11, and quite a few are riding 4 wheelers or go carts at even younger ages. 16.5 meant a 25% reduction in daughter #2’s earning potential through high school. Not to mention the additional burden to her parents. Daughter #3 could be looking at maybe driving halfway through her senior year.
That’s ridiculous. I don’t know how California is now, but in my day it was 15 and a half for a permit and 16 for a license. Granted, that was back in the dark ages (1989-1990).
Weird. In Michigan, you couldn’t even take drivers’ ed unless you had already turned 16.
The only exceptions were kids who had to drive farm equipment to help out on the family farm, and they couldn’t drive off the family property. I think they were allowed to drive at 15.
Actually, in all 50 states you can drive on your own property as much as you want at any age, in an unregistered vehicle. A license just covers public roads.
But anyway.
I’m here to complain about mah guts; whoever is playing with the damn shifter from stop to go, please put the damn thing back in neutral.
Ok, so I’m on blood pressure medication, I’m anemic, and I have a sleep study scheduled.
Since I got on the BP meds, I’ve been eating the same amount of food, but noticing after a normal meal that I’m over full. I’ve been barely able to finish sandwiches and leaving sides on the plate.
Is this normal? Anyone else on a calcium blocker?
I’m not on a calcium blocker, but I’ve noticed since I started taking Prilosec that I get full faster.
Well, if I can adjust to it, slow down, and start throwing away some food instead of cramming it in and feeling bloated that’s awesome.
I went in figuring I was pre-diabetic and instead it’s half a dozen other things.
Is there a travel topic/thread?
No, but you can make one.
