I’m really proud of myself. “The Bachelor New Zealand” has just finished and our pseudo-news site “Stuff” has a quiz about the program.
I didn’t know a single answer.
Statistically I was likely to get a quarter of the questions right as they were all multi-choice. I actually bettered that by getting 4/11, but I can live with that. The important thing is that all 4 of the ones I got right were guesses
I’ve been hunting down Concert deals for groups I have to see now or never see and up pops ZZ Top, at the local casino.
Best concert I ever saw was ZZ Top on their Recycler tour. And that wasn’t even that good of an album. And this one is up for $32.
I took a pass on Ian Anderson “And the members of Jethro Tull” and the eco warrior production of the life of Aqualung. It was a orchestral and movie driven theater experience with the band on stage playing and singing along. For something like $95 a piece. IT looked pretty cool, but I didn’t want to pay that much to get preached to about how GMOs are bad.
I thought so, but it popped up when I logged in the second time today, and I looked to see it up above and it wasn’t there so I hit reply.
Weird.
In other news, got the power shut off yesterday because my wife brain farted the bill for three months. So I call up in righteous anger to get it fixed, to find out not only were we three months behind, but they left me a voice mail last month about it and gave me an extension.
When you’re talking to someone from London and you show them the scar on your arm from where you were knifed during a mugging the last time you were in London and their only response is “it happens all the time” - that does not make it better! If anything it makes it worse!
That line is straight out of one of my libertarian science fiction books. The point in time where the immigrant from Earth is ostracized by the people around her because she blows off being raped and mugged multiple times by saying “it happens all the time” and shrugging. Everyone eventually realizes it’s not because she doesn’t care, but because she’s been conditioned that this is normal. Which is followed by them trying to explain to her that it’s a bad thing.
I get the whole “support your local store” thing but when the store is charging a 20% premium over the manufacturer’s own website, it’s really hard to buy it locally.
