Aw man, that sucks for sure. May things go as smoothly as possible and your mind be calmed. You’ll make the right choice I’m sure. Poor kitty, and poor family.
I know the feeling of putting a pet to the long sleep. It is never easy.
But it is the best. Before the pet suffer pain etc.
All of the best with that, my friend.
Question - why are we willing to put pets and animals to sleep when there’s obvious suffering, but not humans?
We like pets better than people?
Bill Cosby is out of jail because too many people testified about his behaviour.
More because his original prosecutor promised him immunity in return for information regarding a civil trial and then the DA’s office went and prosecuted him anyway, from what I’ve seen.
I’m not thrilled with the result, but I’ll take it if it means that a prosecutor telling me one thing doesn’t lead to them just doing something completely different.
Yeah, the news articles I read were a bit confused about the actual reason. They mentioned the immunity thing and then went on to talk about how, in his second trial, using more testimony about related incidents was too prejudicial.
I agree with you about prosecutorial misconduct, I just think it sucks he got out of jail.
Being for the rule of law kind of sucks some times. What seems to be a decent analysis.
The mobile vet charges 3x the regular vet rates. That’s not going to happen. This is why I started looking around the second we had the talk about how to handle our ailing cat. I made an appointment last week with our regular vet and we’re able to take her in on Wednesday for euthanasia. Of course, we can’t go in with her, so it’ll be a tender farewell from home before the Dragonlady gives her a kitty valium and packs her into the car.
Sad.
Idiots who think they know the law.
I’m just about to start mowing the lawn and some huge jock jerk in a very spendy car screeches to a halt on the side of my lot (I’m on a corner), jumps out and starts screaming at someone across the street. I start my mower and start doing the border. This will bring me right alongside his car. Now, I have the mulching thing going, so there isn’t any grass getting kicked up, and my new mower is pretty quiet, so he doesn’t hear me over his hollering until I’m already past his car. I’ve got my noise-cancelling headphones on and listening to my tunes, so I don’t notice immediately that he has switched his fury to me.
He just struts across the street, waving his hands wildly and screaming at me things that I can’t understand.
I can see how this is going to go, so I let go of the handle to turn the mower off and lower my headphones. He’s just screaming now and pointing at his car and at the family across the street, all out on the porch now.
I calmly reach into my pocket to get my big-ass phone and start recording.
He goes insane and starts going on about how I can’t take his picture or his likeness without his permission blah blah blah.
I haven’t even said anything at this point. I’m just calmly waiting for him to wind down.
It takes me 10 minutes, being interrupted by him every half sentence, to explain to him the way that the law ACTUALLY works.
- We are in a public place, so he has no reasonable expectation of privacy.
- It is completely legal for me to record video AND AUDIO of any conversation of which I am a part, either by myself or with the aid of another party.
This isn’t anything close to what he wants to hear or know or understand, so he just starts animal screaming in the middle of the street.
I keep recording until he is out of sight.
I also know how these things tend to work. I put the mower away for a while, get a lawn chair and a drink and go sit under the tree at the corner of my lot, which is pretty hidden.
Sure enough, he tries to sneak around the block 10 minutes later and park his car 2 houses down. As he is walking back to the house, I come around my back neighbours fence with my phone out, recording again.
He stops, takes a good 10 seconds to weigh his options, gives me the finger and walks back to his car. Then as he drives by, just leans on the horn all the way down the block.
Everyone in the area who has a security camera has been asked to pay attention to their feed for the next couple of nights.
Good. He will try something stupid.
Aw shame, poor widdle entitled snowflake got trumped by the law?
Here, somebody got some tissues for my imaginary tears?
Did they specifically say you couldn’t go in? Some vets are allowing families in for this type of visit. If you didn’t ask, it’s worth a shot. Maybe you’ll be able to.

So sorry to hear that.
This is not always easy.
Winter.
It was -41 Friday morning and we’re getting 40+ cm of snow tonight and tomorrow. The Dragonlady doesn’t have to go in to work, so she’ll be underfoot all day. I’ll have to shovel multiple times tomorrow, but the driveway will be blown out. I suppose I’ll get a nice dinner out of it, though.
Central Indiana is a dry spot in the middle of snowstorms. It’s getting annoying. I don’t want to be buried in snow, but some damn snow would be nice.
Well, actually, I do want to be buried.
I blame windfarms.
Why is that?
Mostly because it’s a throw away smart assed statement. But the storms do go around one of the largest farms on the east side of the state like they hit a wall.
We used to get really pretty lenticular clouds over a nearby marion (think exactly like a mountain but those pesky ISO people say that a mountain has to be 3,000 metres tall) but now it has turbines on it they can’t form anymore which sucks
Also unless they buried the cables under a forest without moving the forest, I genuinely don’t think they’re even connected to the grid.
Everything is wireless these days.
Negative on the contract work.
Just keep swimming, that’s all I can do.
On a positive note, have taken ownership of a problem, and resolved it . Something to put on my CV.
