Sorry, not needing nurses as in having a ton of openings, but as in plenty of places to work. Indiana doesn’t appear to be as saturated. Part of that could be the number of nurses working at insurance companies out here.
Eww, don’t get any HIPAA on me. It’s already the bane of my existence and makes my job a lot harder than it should be.
The hired gun contractor or skilled temp has always been able to make a killing in exchange for a lack of consistency in their career, in medical and a bunch of other trades. One of our clients is big in the nursing placement field, furnished apartments, high compensation, membership perks, time share access, all kinds of wild stuff, especially if you are a specialist. And while you are never out of work long, it does make it difficult to be a “normal” person. These guys do some international placement too, which is where some of the time share access comes from. Nothing like vacation surgery.
I don’t know how it works out, but it’s been around for ages, and will likely never go away. The nurse I’m good friends with liked the flexibility, she didn’t want to be a full time nurse, and according to her most of her female friends didn’t either. They wanted to be home with their kids, now that the last one is in school she’s switched to a surgical center, but is still pulling one shift every two weeks at the hospital.
It makes perfect sense to not pay your current insurance carrier $2,500 for extra reporting that could save you $150k on our premium for this year.
Also, it makes total sense to charge $2,500 for reports that 99% of the free world considers to be standard minimal reporting. Why the hell didn’t we think of charging extra for basic services? Brilliant!
I am such a nerd that when we were house-shopping, I looked for houses that were outside the historically-worst snow bands. Since I lived in Florida for a while, I also looked for higher elevations to avoid flooding.
In other words, we should be okay, but there are plenty of roads and homes at risk in the next few days. Getting to work will be exciting again.
Serious question here: what does washing your hands with warm water do that washing them with cold water doesn’t? It’s probably a simple answer, but I haven’t been able to figure it out.
I have been in this industry over two decades. Some of you have also been here that long, others maybe five or ten years.
When you call me for help, why is it I keep having to ask the same question? I need to know what kind of device you’re working on, and I need to know that first, rather than after you’ve gone into a long-winded explanation of the problem and you still haven’t said what kind of device this is happening on.
I’ve worked on roughly 100 different kinds of devices during my time. I need context in order to help you.
Apparently modern soaps are designed to work better with warm water than cold water.
I have also had people tell me that the warm water kills germs better, but I’m pretty sure that if you had water hot enough to kill germs then you would have your skin peeling off because you killed it too.
Warm water is more pleasing to the skin, meaning that you will actually wash your hands for the recommended amount of time. Contact time is the most important part of germ killing, so if you only soap up for 15 seconds because the water is frigid or scalding, you might as well have waved your hands in the air and chanted a germ-killing spell…
-Patient X - shows dx of oth spec complications – need details as to what is driving his claims of $73k – have his issues been resolved?
X was attacked by an assailant with a sword. He is supposed to have one more surgery last I heard. I would have thought the claim was being subrogated and $Client would not end up paying for any of it.
Sometimes the view into people’s lives given in my business is of another world.
No, by all means, take off as much time as you want. Even though you’ve been reprimanded every single year for the past four years about your inability to manage your days off, and have had to make up numerous days to maintain your contract, THIS year that rule doesn’t apply. THIS year it’s a free-for-all. Just throw some darts at the board and take those off. We’ll manage just fine. It’s not like there’s only THREE DOCTORS for the entire hospital including YOU. We don’t actually need all three of us; the extra one each day is just for comic relief.
Maybe next time you should start up the applications and make sure they work before telling everyone your work is done. Because now someone came in to use the machine and none of the required applications are working. And this guy probably charged the client lots of money to show up today for it. I’m the one that has to clean up your mess.
I understand that your ass may sometimes explode, at the office or at home, however, while you may not totally control this, you do control the number of times you flush the toilet and how much of the explosion you leave in the toilet.
I don’t need to see that here. I’m not your parent, and you aren’t 5.
You should really do better at reading emails. Big difference between “We’re contacting” and “We contacted”, especially with how you love to jump to conclusions at the slightest hint.
