I used to, back in the day, think up ways with a buddy of mine that we would attack a building, and then think of ways we could get around it. Like, best was is to smoke pot the stairs and jam the elevator door open, but I bet I could jump from that window there onto the dumpster shelter, or onto a van roof.
I sort of do the same thing still, but more of a situational awareness contingency planning fashion. How many people hang out in buildings, neighborhoods, or bars where they only know one way in or out? Where is the fire exit? Where is the AED? Where is an extinguisher? If someone busts in the front door wanting to kick ass and take names, whatās the fastest way to get away from that person, or cover to try and resist him from?
Itās amazing how playing black hat/white hat can help you practice stuff like that. If the shit were ever to go down in my office I know exactly what Iāll do. Whether Iād hold it together enough to do so is something I hope I never know.
Thereās an indoor archery range around the corner from the new house. Been thinking about going in. I lost/gave away all my bows years ago except for one hunting bow someplace that was dadās. Thereās no way in hell Iād string it though after all these years. Iām pretty sure itāll snap in half and Iāve only had that happen to me once. I should check to see if I could rent or borrow one. I was pretty good back in the day.
And thereās a rock gym near by too. Still have my chalk bag!
My whole temporary crown except for the top has now fallen off, and it still doesnāt hurt. Itās vaguely annoying, but doesnāt actually hurt. And it might be annoying just because I keep fiddling with it.
I have a temporary filling for a broken tooth thatās annoying me and I keep fiddling with it. Part of it broke off within an hour of me getting home (conveniently just after their office closed), but I think thatās because he somewhat joined it to my existing bridge thatās next to the tooth in question.
Itās annoying because it doesnāt feel ārightā. Itās rough, and flat on the bottom (itās an upper tooth), kinda feels like I have a small lump of concrete in my mouth.
My parents have the kids, and @sig is home after three weeks in Maryland! Weāre in separate rooms doing separate activities, but itās really nice to have him home and let someone else deal with the kids for a little while.
Got all my yard work done before it got too humid out, made it to the gym, and got the house cleaned up. Now to relax and do whatever I want for the rest of the day!
Wife and I moved 4 tons of #2 rock from the staging pile to the ābasementā of the soon-to-be-shed. Only one blister, and while a little stiff, no real muscles aches, either!

Subject: IT Info: Contact Center Move Project
Importance: High
Hello,
I just wanted to acknowledge the considerable efforts,
assistance and flexibility provided by $Supervisor1,
$Supervisor2, $Supervisor3 and $Supervisor4 with the
recent Contact Center move/reorganization project.Ā Their efforts allowed my team to COMPLETE Over
70 Contact Center Moves during the work week, with minimal
disruption to the business, AND while avoiding any after-hours or weekend work.
I also wish to acknowledge the Help Desk and IT Systems
Teams ($Other_Tech, Force10, $Network_Guy, and $Server_Guy) for their direct efforts both
organizing and making these moves happen.Ā
If you look at the scope of this project, it was essentially the 2011
move, but in miniature. To pull this off without impacting the business is
impressive.
KUDOS to ALL!!!
Thank you,
$Boss
Director of IT Operations
Itās been so long since I got kudos at any job that I almost keeled over in shock.
Ate my first green bean and first zucchini from the garden today. And I think Iām ahead of the squash bugs. Tons of squashes setting up nicely on the vines! Woot!
The floor in the kitchen is almost in (will be by the end of the day). The color is good considering Gratch and I had to just grab what was in stock and hope. Cabinets will start this afternoon or tomorrow and the whole project should be done by next week.
About halfway through the hearing today, the psychiatrist called in by the SSA (and on speakerphone, btw), interrupted the ājudgeā, gave him hell, and explained exactly why and how much I am currently disabled. Also told the judge in no uncertain terms that my current doctor is very qualified, has gone above and beyond trying to manage my symptoms, and gave a heart-felt testimonial as to her standing in the field.
Itās going to take a couple months for the paperwork, I guess, but the good news is I am approved.
It totally made up for the hour and a half wait to get into the hearing (the judge is notorious for this), the judgeās ego trip at the beginning, and associated ābenign insultsā.
