What Made You Happy Today?

Kicked out the old Polycom VC and installed a Yealink VC in its place.

Of course there were a hiccup or two, but all’s sorted out now.

The Polycom VC got haxx0red and it was on the old side, so I prudently recommend we get something newer, as I’m not sure how long the Polycom VC will be good for.

Hearing Ozzieland got some rains - may there be more to come and that the fires can get under control.

FREEDOM!

That’s gotta be some weight off your mind.

I’m at about 6-8 inches on the chin, I keep thinking about shaving, but then I’d have to start over.

I’ve found the same reaction from almost everyone today. First, shock. Then they say something like, “You look good either way. You just look good in any haircut, I guess. Damn your eyes.”

We got another Wendy (wooden shed) in good condition too. More wood for us to finish our little project.

Our current project is making a proper classroom for the kids since the two previous wendy’s that we got was a bit too small.

It is taking a bit longer as we’re doing a proper job - making sure everything’s level/square etc. It should be worth it.

The wood outside have been varnished with a good varnish (refer to my other thread of removing waksol* from wood).

Once we finish this, we will dismantle the other two wendy’s and also enlarge them.

And I’ll post pix. Right now things are a bit messy.

*some sort of wood treatment that’s a real bastard to get rid off.

The NZ public health service, and (oddly) psoriasis.

I got my melanoma diagnosis earlier this year. My doctor referred the results to specialists immediately.
1 week later I got a call from the specialist at one of our hospitals, with an appointment to go and see her later that week. During that appointment she told me I’d need to have further surgery to remove extra skin and some lymph nodes as a precaution.
The next week (this week) I got a call from the hospital scheduling my surgery for Monday.
So from diagnosis to surgery will be about 3 weeks. All in the public health system.

I’m not saying that our health system is perfect - far from it. But this surgery and follow up treatment has been known to bankrupt people in the US and I’m very glad I don’t have that additional stress right now.

As for being thankful for psoriasis, the reason I went to the doctor was because a mole I had been keeping an eye on suddenly started itching. That was the mole that was removed and turned out to be melanoma.
However, the itching hasn’t stopped after the mole was removed.
I was diagnosed with psoriasis about 6 months ago, and I think the itching was actually a patch of that.
If that’s the case, then having psoriasis has literally saved my life.

Thank god it wasn’t Phantom Mole Syndrome. PMS is hard to deal with at the best of times.

I will be gainfully employed come Monday. Without the formality of an interview. It’s the last part I’m really happy about. God, I hate interviews.

It’s amazing how fast things move when things are serious. Move quick now save time, money, and pain later.

Yeah. I’m finding it a bit of a mixed blessing.
On the one hand, just what you said.
On the other hand, they’ve been telling me the melanoma has been fully excised, but they wouldn’t move this quickly unless there is a reason to do so. It brings it home just how serious it could be - which is a bit scary. I guess you would understand how that feels.

Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds is awesome. I listen to it while I’m doing mindless chores like cleaning.

Watching someone try natto for the first time. I did warn him that he probably wouldn’t like it.

$GF and I tried natto, and we decided that is was very much an acquired taste.
(And not one that we were in a hurry to acquire!)

I grew up eating it, and I love it. I can certainly understand why most people won’t touch it, though.
