Walked six miles, played bass for 4 or 5 hours.
Both a happy and a plea for help. DS12 is raising money to donate food to the dog shelter. The link is below. Can anyone who is on social media share it so maybe he can meet his goal? You donāt need to donate, but if we can get enough shares and get the word out maybe he can meet his goal. Thanks!
Fixed the rear door lock on our Sharan. Something stripped inside, causing us to be able to set alarm, but not unlock the door.
Fixed it properly, my fix will last longer than the car. Great stuff not havening to pay $$$ for a new/secondhand part.
All it costed me was a 2mm nail, a 1.5mm and 2mm drill bit and some of my time.
The front door lock is also FUBAR, will have to sit with it for a while and visualize a solution.
Great to have mechanical skills, did appy in a mechanical workshop, was nice to go back to basics. whistles nonchalantly
Hereās what I did :
Where the arrowhead ends, thatās where the 2mm hole got drilled, right through the barrel (from your POV downwards - away from you - to the other side, not towards the lock spring mechanism).
The pin which Iāve inserted is the right length and fits snugly into the grooves of the round metal object.
So all is good. $wife is happy. Iām happy.
I still have to do the front door (driver) lock⦠will have to sit and think on that one for a while.
Middle child just told me out of the blue that he wants the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl because they have a woman coach and maybe thatāll help people know that sports and coaching and stuff are for all people and not just men.
This is the same child who was amazed the first time he went to the dentist and it was a man, because he didnāt think men could be doctors. In his defense, his mom, momās friends, his pediatrician, etc, were all females. He had literally never met a male doctor before.

I hate to be That Guy but Katie Sowers is an assistant offensive coach for the 49ers, not the Chiefs.
Sheās the first female coach in the NFL and the first openly LGBTQ coach in the NFL.
Keep an eye out for a Nike commercial featuring her on Sunday.
I got my egg handlerās license today. I can legally sell eggs.
Iām glad I donāt need a license to do emergency crotch adjustmentsā¦
Rewind to last weekend. Got to hang out in Cleveland for SQL Saturday, presented my session Saturday afternoon, nailed the timing, didnāt fall over or spontaneously combust.
Got first paycheck from my new job. (Still havenāt got last paychecks from last job. Guy who writes them was on vacation. In Cancun.)
Clear sky and not much of a breeze this morning. Itās great to have the sun out again after a week of really cold days. I mean, it was out during other days this week, but it always chills me out when it happens.
The blissful near-silence of my new dishwasher.
I donāt have to go to work tomorrow.
I got to spend the day doing whatever I wanted. Including napping. My feet are finally only at a mild throb. And Iām almost mentally relaxed from the past five days. Thank goodness I have two more days before I have to go back to work.
Doing research to update an article I wrote and stumbling across a film that sounds very wonderful and remarkable. Heading to Amazon to order it. (Iāll share what it is after Iāve seen it.)
I was out at the strip club, talking to some interesting people, and one of them turns to me and says, āHey, you make all kinds of weird stuff, right? I need someone to make me a kicksled so I can exercise my dogs.ā
Reputation is an odd thing at times. She knows that I work with wood and stone and steel and all other manner of materials to make some interesting things and has seen my creative side. I guess Iām the guy to go to for strange, bespoke items.
Itās The Room isnāt it?
Nope. Guess again.
Cabin Boy?
