When our freezer starts looking bare I plan to head up to a local place that does local beef. Normally they’re a bit more than grocery store prices but now they’re quite competitive and pushing making stock available to all.
It was actually yesterday but it’s been one year since my legal name and gender change became official.
Just got half a pig last week and my son in law is looking at raising beef later. He’s a former meat processor so we’re looking at getting another pig too, maybe get several and have several families pitch in.
The Hamburger Helper website doesn’t say it is discontinued, but only a few stores in my area list it as available, and none particularly near me. However, on the H-E-B* website it is listed as “Item is no longer available.”, which to me means discontinued. Sorry, man.
.* H-E-B is a local grocery chain that is BIG in Texas. Big might be an understatement.
They’ve relaxed the restrictions somewhat here so I got to go see my 94-year-old dad and hug him for the first time since February.
I hope I can see mine soon. This lockdown sent him into a decline
Dragon Age: Inquisition was like 20 bucks for the version with all of the DLCs and everything so I snapped it up. I hope to have a computer that I can play it on (after I build Siglet Secundus a new one) within a month or two.
Managed to make some progress with Infra, and remembered to take some screenshots, which I’ll put up for you to look at.
I forgot the words to a song.
A bit of back story is probably needed to explain that one.
One of the types of bread I make is a spicy fruit loaf - it’s great toasted for breakfast.
One of the ingredients is cinnamon, and whenever I use that ingredient I get an immediate ear-worm of “Oh sinner man, where you gonna run to” in a Jamaican accent (Yep, my head is weird). Luckily, I only knew that line so the ear-worm was severely limited.
Then I made a mistake and told my wife about it - and she immediately started singing the whole thing, despite me asking her to stop (pleading and begging is probably more accurate).
So I stopped making the bread for a fortnight, and now I’ve forgotten the rest of it again - yay!
UPS Monitor PC HDD crashed. Bummer.
Got a new HDD, but am not in the mood to set everything up from scratch.
Checked Veeam repository. There is a backup. Yay.
Created recovery media, selected restore point, and away we go.
Chuffed.
All in all I’ve lost 4 days worth of UPS monitoring data.
Not a big issue.
I’ll need to look at monitoring options which will go all in my face to tell me a PC/VM/server have dieded or is down.
I just switched ISP from Comcast to Sonic. 1 Gb fiber connection. 4 times the speed, half the price.
I kind of miss when I had speakeasy.net as my ISP back in the late 90s/early 2000s when it was semi-viable for a small ISP out of (IIRC) Seattle to offer DSL to Maryland. I do live someplace that actually has a choice at least, but it’s Verizon or Comcast. So not a great choice.
Been married 20 years as of yesterday.
I love how happy people are when they get their quail from me. They are usually expecting the plain, brown ones, so when they get an assortment of beautiful, fancy colours, they just light up.
Are they keeping them as pets?
They’re usually keeping them for eggs and/or pets.
Pets you can eat?
I can’t eat pets. That’s why my birds aren’t pets. They don’t get names (except for Goliath), they don’t live in the house, I don’t spend time getting to know them. That first cut is hard enough without being attached to him as well.
Saturday was my first farmers market day. Made about $250 selling honey, lotion bars, lip balm, and beeswax.
It was 75 at 6:30 when I set up, 82 at 8 am, and cranked over 90 by 11… I spent most of the time thinking how nice September will be out there. But it was fun, I like talking to people and if you talk to them they’ll often but something.
