There has been much poking of fun here in Canada over the fact that Bob and Doug took off, eh. ![]()
I noticed that⦠Didnāt see any jokes about it, though.
Good day, eh?
Kooo lo ko koo ko koo koo kooo!
I actually have the Great White Album. Good stuff
Hoser.
I biked 5 kilometres yesterday on my new shiny! After not being on a bike for 35+ years, it felt really good. We have a great waterfront trail (see New Shiny thread for more details) and I discovered stuff I never knew was there because Iāve never gone there.
A bicycle was one of the better purchases I made a few years ago. Iāve been out riding a few times so far this year and went back to a park with mountain bike trails on the last ride. I also found another park with unmarked trails that are not meant for bikes but you can do it if you take it slow.
Generally, I stick to city streets and just go in a direction until I feel like turning around. If thereās a hill I know Iām not strong enough to pedal up, Iāve got no problem with getting off the bike and walking. It often coincides with a point where Iām tired anyway or need to get off the seat to take the pressure off.
I had my mountain bike tuned up a few years ago, but I only rode it a few times after. I wanted to go riding with the wife, but she never learned how to ride a bike (did not grow up in the US), and doesnāt really have an interest in trying to learn now. She would be ok with hopping on the back of a tandem, but I have not found one that was either in horrible shape, or cost more than I want to spend, or sadly, both. Still keeping an eye out, though.
From what I understand, much like the trike, the problem with tandems is that they are less easy to store and transport, because of their unusual dimensions.
Ikea is open and they had 90% of what I need! Now to see if itāll all fit. Gonna depend on how they have it all packagedā¦
The Dragonlady hadnāt ridden her bike in over 10 years, but we had a mobile tuneup guy come by and give it the once over. He talked her out of a few things because he was overbooked with calls. One of those things was putting new tires on.
Two days after he did the tuneup, the back tire had blown out.
It made me happy that I was able to change the tires and tubes and adjust the brakes so that everything works again.
Now, I have to adjust the gears. Thatās just the turn of a screw.
Yeah. Getting it home was fun - it didnāt quite fit into Elantra, but it was close enough we could just tie the hatchback lid down. Supposedly you can get a car rack for it, but I donāt think Iāll bother. We donāt really have a place for it in the backyard yet, and I donāt want to bring it into the house (although that might happen in the winter, so itās on the patio with a tarp over top when not in use. Iām bugging Mr. TM about building a little shed in the back just for the bikes.
Another reminder that ground turkey works pretty good as a substitute for a lot of things that call for ground hamburger. If itās something as simple as browning it for a recipe, the liquid burns away. You donāt even need to drain it.
On the sucky side of things, I just cooked my last box of one particular flavor of Hamburger Helper that I like and I canāt find any place that sells it any more that isnāt at least four times the original cost. I like it, but not that much.
I just got a meat grinder this week, so Iām going to try ground quail. Weāll see how it turns out.
Looking forward to the after action report on that.
I canāt remember the last time I had Hamburger Helper. Now Iām curious what the favorite flavor is, and if it was discontinued or just not well distributed in your region.
Tomato Basil Penne. I think itās been discontinued because it disappeared from the Walmart, Target, Safeway and QFC/Fred Meyer/Kroger websites this week. Thereās a place on Amazon that has 10 boxes for $7.31 each. Average retail price is about $1.50 for other flavors.
I only bought two a few months ago because I didnāt know if Iād like it. I thought the fact that I couldnāt find it when I started looking for it again in May was just due to the panic buying.
My 78 year old father just bought a brand new Harley Davidson CVO Street Glide. I should be so lucky to make it to that age and still be able to ride and handle one of the largest and most powerful bikes HD makes.
I buy their Beef Stroganoff flavor as a good ābackup mealā option to keep around the house.
It tastes almost completely unlike real Beef Stroganoff in my experience, but it is kind of a comfort food thing.
We have tried to keep it in stock and itās been erratic the last couple months. I think a lot of it is we had a couple months of people with kids at home that normally werenāt so lots of extra lunch cooking and such.
The increasing scarcity of meat may have a role in there, and the fact that some people are streeeetching their budget because their pay isnāt reliable - or existent.
The ramen noodle shelves are likewise bare.
If you have access to an Asian market, I guarantee theyāll have them.
XXX HOT CHICKEN!!!
Man, paying that extra $.52 a serving for ramen makes all the difference.
