What Made You Happy Today?

Had a long visit with an old friend in town for the holiday.

Back to work.

No, I’m not being sarcastic. I’m actually happy to be back at the office.

Tells you how my day was yesterday, doesn’t it?

It was a couple days ago – New Year’s Eve, actually – when I got to play Zelda and beat a big boss, organize my yarn stash, and try a new pattern while watching The Office (UK) and Pitch Perfect, which I bought myself for Christmas. And now my room is clean, because I spent all day yesterday reorganizing my closet and putting clothes away. But still pleased as punch my very first cabling experiment went well:

I think I might make some coasters out of this pattern!

The Canadian Armed Forces Extreme Cold Weather parka that Mr. TM gave me for Christmas a few years ago. It’s -25C today, -36C with the windchill (that’s -13F, or -33F with the windchill for you US folks). It’s damned cold out there.

I haven’t been back to work yet this year.

From the start of December and now, it has been 1-5C. In north Norway.

It’s very quiet at work today (the same as last Thursday and Friday). With luck this quiet phase will continue for at least a week. I need to catch up on my sleep.

For some reason this made me smile

How could you not!

Last night, my five-year-old was taking his time getting ready for his bath, and when I walked into his room for something or other he had his shirt pulled most of the way off his head, so it hung down his back like “hair”. He said, “Look Mom! I’m a shirthead!”

I had to turn around to laugh so that he wouldn’t ask WHY it was so funny. @Sig came in then and half-heartedly said he probably shouldn’t call himself that, but I couldn’t stop laughing. Yes, son, yes you are. My very own little shirthead.

So a couple weeks back the better half let me spend a buck-fitty large on the “holy grail” of contemporary RPG collecting. I now haz a copy of the last game book Last Unicorn Games put out before they went under…
Makes it hard to decide on my next target. (nah, not really, I have to many on the want list to be derided by space 0 being marked through
.)

Travel arrangements 99% down. We’re going to Vegas next week (M-F) without the kids. For work, so lodging and my flight are paid for. Huzzah!

Norm: Hey Sammy, put this $20 on 17 Black for me.
Cliff: Why 17 Black there, Normy?
Norm: Well, 17 because I married Vera on the 17^th, and black because…I married Vera on the 17^th.

In addition to Sig’s, I was becoming despondent over the fact that I couldn’t find plane tickets for myself for anything less than $400 (finding the same flight was going to be more than $600). Before I gave up, though, I did a search for mac flights, and found Military.com’s travel booker, and got myself round-trip tickets for 46% less than the cheapest tickets on the “cheap tickets” sites! SCORE!!!
