What Made You Happy Today?

This rough rider, and his driver.

That does it, I’m sewing my hood shut.

National Mill Dog Rescue’s rescue team arrived home with 115 dogs they saved from puppy mills - many of them were slated to be “destroyed” - from across the midwest. They were escorted from Denver to home by riders from Mile High Harley-Davidson.

I didn’t know until fairly late the previous week, and then I didn’t know what I would be doing on any given day. Not a heck of a lot, as it turns out.

But I expect to be coming back again at least once or twice this year before my overseas project.

Bought another copy of Unicorn vs. Goblins: Another Phoebe and Her Unicorn Adventure today, and got it signed by the author at the launch party. Dana Simpson is a local artist and I found out today that the number of newspapers carrying the comic strip jumped from 100 to 200 in just one year since the launch.

Still happy about yesterday’s toilet reinstall.

Nothing made me happy today, it was one of those days where I’ve been happy anyway. It’s nice; I’m not like this very often. And I came home to classical music and the smell of bubblebath too… the only way it could have been nicer is if the bath had been for me but hey-o you can’t win everything!

That’s awesome! I love those. There was something on McSweeney’s today about that.

Let me check … http://www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/the-birthday-party-log-of-ned-born-on-february-29

@Road_Rash, here is a birthday song for your daughter, with a good friend of mine on drums.

I know I’m probably going to be mocked for this, but what the heck.

I just read an article about how Taylor Swift was maid of honour at her best friend’s wedding, and it included the wedding video.

One of the things that made me happy was that the video was all about the bride and groom. Taylor Swift was a fairly important participant, and as such she appeared on the video a few times, but it was always in context.

It also looked like the video was very professionally produced - and I wonder if Swift had something to do with that. Either way, it’s a really nice record of the day(s).

I know she’s a prepackaged pop artist, but it does appear that there is a decent person under all that as well. And she does write about what she knows at least.

I own a Taylor Swift album. My boys adore her.

I’d agree with you. I couldn’t name a Taylor Swift song to save my life, but there are celebrities out there that go the extra mile for friends and strangers.

Generic, over-produced, empty-calories pop “music” IMHO. At least the stuff I’ve heard pop up on the various Pandora stations my kids are allowed to listen to.

But she is a very savvy business woman who knows how to work media (social and otherwise), or knows how to pick the right people to help her handle all of that. And apparently puts on a decent live show.

Katie didn’t seem that interested in the song, but I liked it and added it to my favorites.

There’s a reason she is not allowed to date until she’s “16”. No, I don’t think I’m being unreasonable about it.

Once again, our CPA has earned every penny of her fee. Whereas the online big box taxcasters and estimators all said we would owe $4800 without putting anything in an IRA or $1200 if I maxed one out, she not only deciphered the tax law (I am apparently not eligible for tax deductions because I am covered by a profit-sharing plan, so there’s no reason to stick my investments in a vehicle where I can’t access them) but informed me I could still pull it back out into a normal fund before April 15th. Then she proceeded to work her magic and turn our tax disaster into a miracle, with us only owing $950 out of pocket. Which is a snot so small miracle. then we made a plan on how to restructure our withholdings and HSA and 401k contributions to save even more next year. I love her!!

3 years in the house and I finally have the tv mounted on the wall.

And I got it right the first time. Every hole drilled right, bracket is level, and everything hooked up just fine.
