Didn’t we have that in the other forum? Under the “CoG: The Game” thread?
We did have the comic strips, YEARS and YEARS ago.

The reaper bones kickstarter ends tomorrow and I have no idea how I’m ever going to paint it all.
It involves a goat named Henrietta.
Not that shiny, frankly, but I do have a pretty decent sense of accomplishment. I finally figured out how to make Windows XP run in a virtualbox session and managed to configure it so it could see my CAC reader. I can do required, necessary Army things without having to reboot from Linux Mint Debian. This pleases me greatly, although not as much as requiring Internet Explorer and other Windows-only programs to do my job infuriates me.
Ooo… Getting it to read the CAC reader reliably is rough for me. I might be pestering you soon Sig. My work laptop is due for another re-install. It’s running Win8 just fine but I need more Linux experience so I was thinking of duel booting it.The CAC issue is the only thing keeping me from doing what you did.
Getting Windows to see any of the USB devices was the weird bit. It turns out that just apt-get installing virtualbox wasn’t enough; you have to manually add each user to the vboxusers group or else none of your USB devices will show up to Windows. Once Windows can see it, it’s install like normal (as per militarycac.com for me; your mileage may vary).
I did not do that. I’ll try that and keep you in mind as a resource. I have an issue currently with an Office upgrade (to 2013 32bit) that’s causing me grief with our SharePoint. Today is ‘wipe all Office products and do a clean install’ day. If that doesn’t do it, I’m blowing out the system this week. I’ll try the Linux install first and see if I can get it working.
My new (to me) 2012 MacBook Pro refurb arrives today.
I might have to name it Bender.
Not shiny yet, so hopefully not too off topic… Any luck mapping to a printer, Sig?
My dad’s ye olde WinXP box has a hardware problem and he has an app that will not work in Win7 or 8. In doing some testing, I can get the XP app to work in Win7 Virtual PC XPMode on my Win7 laptop, but Virtual PC XPMode only works in Win7 Pro, Ult or Ent. His laptop has Vista (yeah, I try not to touch it, but it is stable for what he does on it) and mom’s laptop has Win7 HomePrem.
I loaded VirtualBox on my Win8 laptop andI was able to get the stupid XP app to work in a XP VM in VirtualBox, but can’t get XP to see the printers on his home network.
Is the network (on the VirtualBox side) set up as NAT or Bridged?
Good point, thanks. I think the default is NAT, but will double check tonight.
Yeah, NATed on mine. I haven’t needed to print yet, but I should probably fix that for the inevitable day.
Speaking of which, we picked this printer up on sale for about $120 on Newegg a few months ago and have been very happy with it. Fast b/w duplex laser printer and scanner (with document feeder) on wired network (plugged into the wireless router, so that’s not a big deal for me).
15 acres in an undisclosed location, outside of my home state.
It has been dubbed “Camp Kickass”.
Oh yeah, I got a new hitch cover too.
I wish I could like that image more than once
Will my authority be recognized within any fortress-like edifices constructed thereupon?
New Shiny help requested.
I have about $500 to purchase a homework/gaming PC and I find that I too out of date to make anything make sense.
I see these, and I don’t know which one to grab.
They all look like they would do the job, but I’m not sure if the cheaper one would do what I would like it to do. I play 3-4 year old games, mostly RTS games, and Minecraft sometimes. I’d like to not have to worry about the back of the box if I buy a game, but I’m not running COD12.3 or GTAIX or anything.
Yes, once Fort Kickass is complete, your authority will be duly recognized within it.
GRE study guide. Let’s do this thing.
