Random Musings (and associated non sequiturs) v. 3.0

Someone got into my Sprint account, changed the billing address, changed the password, and then changed the security notification method from text to email.

Thankfully, I had it on text so I went in and rechanged the password, and changed the notification back… then I called Sprint. I didn’t catch the billing address change, and neither did the person I talked to.

Now I have their billing address, and teh email they were using… but no one to talk to about it. Should I even bother talking to anyone about it?

Probably couldn’t hurt to file a police report. Even though they (local police) will likely never do anything about it, the info should get entered into their system, and hopefully their system is linked to others. If anyone ever did catch the rat bastards, your info could get added to the pile of charges against them. Probably a best case scenario, but better than nuttin!

Either your credentials were compromised, or Sprint fell victim to social engineering and let someone make those changes to your account.

Both are equally terrifying.

8 character random alphanumeric password, one of my oldest and weakest. It’s been busted once before at PayPal, I am just lazy I guess.

I do wonder what they are going to do if I let the bill go to them, I’m assuming that change was to let them buy whatever and have them get away with it for a bit longer. And to change the shipping address.

In the meantime I’m tempted to sign the address up for stuff.

The physical address and the email. Maybe a bag of dicks.

Update, Sprint just suspended my online access to my account.

In a classic case of bolting the stable door after the horse has bolted, then caught and re-housed in a completely different stable

Definitely time to start signing the SOBs up for all kinda crap. Get them on the wait list for experimental ED pills. Lifealert. NAMBLA. Anything from Ronco. Mesothelioma class action suits. Industrial schools with hidden student loans. Scan the TV Guide for all the infomercials on at 3am that might have a free brochure or video. Anything that could get them on a spam list or watch list. Muahahaha. :imp:

My office is cold.

I’m working from home.

I don’t want to turn the furnace on yet.

My fingers are a bit chilly.

It’s 36 outside, and about 40 inside… I might have to turn the heat on.

Egad! That’s beyond a bit chilly. At least fire up a space heater by your desk or something. How can you type like that? My fingers would be useless. I get testy when it is under 70 in my office. (like office building, not home office)

I get sweaty when it’s over 70.

Right now I am typing through the power of my righteous anger because everyone is stupid.

If I ever visit you, I’ll try to remember to bring a parka

It was 80 last Monday.

Likewise… I sit and work at my home desk, in the basement, shirtless, down to 66 or so.

Perhaps you may want to reconsider visiting Woodman if he tends to over ripen easily. Winter may be the best time to visit him.

This is the second year in a row I’ve actually felt chilly. I’m starting to wonder if the chemo didn’t change something.

I am always fresh and ready to pick. I don’t get all bruised and squishy. Even if the temperature changes are enough to skunk a beer.

Ahhh, nyce. Thanks, I laughed. I’m working on a case that is kind of grim. I needed to laugh.

Tribe in the Series. Cavs won the NBA. Lake Erie Monsters won the AHL.

Browns are the only winless team in the NFL through week 7. At least some things don’t change.

Gah. I hate Adobe products, and dealing with support is a long, painful process.

Troof, yo.

Adobe’s a great example of a software company’s products starting out great and becoming bloated and terrible over time. I think the CS era apps use embedded Flash for UI panels? Really?
