Random Musings (and associated non sequiturs) v. 3.0

This is why I take any jokes from my wife about bringing a dog home totally seriously.

Back is still tender above the butt, but apart from that all is fine. Whew.

The pain at present is just an uncomfortable ā€œI’m here so booyaā€ kind of pain, it is tolerable, but you know it is there, especially if you get in or out of a car.

So far all is good.

Look into Voltaren or some other anti-inflammation cream. You won’t be sorry. Just keep in mind the ingredients to see if they interact with any medications you might be taking.

Much much better today. Just a little bit tender, but that’s all.

Slept so much better last night.

I slept in until a little after 6 this morning! I can’t remember the last time I did that.

On a related note - why is it that I can sleep really well over the holidays, but can’t get to sleep / wake up stupidly early when I have to go to work the next morning??

Stress patterns? Less stress over weekends/holidays means you sleep better.

During workdays you have more stress, and this affects your sleeping patterns.

I came home from work yesterday and slept for 15 hours. On the one hand, I hate being sick, on the other hand, I think I lost 15 pounds… (well not really, but I probably lost about 6 or 7)

OK stupid olympics here.

Took the week off to work on Kitchen and goof off. Day one of renovation, lift off crappy fake wood, pull up subfloor under carpet that was under fake wood, find sheet vinyl… ā€œDanger Will Robinsonā€ I live in a 90 year old home, the vinyl is so old the mastic is all stuck on the floor and it’s basically a big vinyl sheet… potentially made of asbestos.

Three days later I have a asbestos guy coming by to test tomorrow. For $275. Meanwhile kitchen is mostly on hold. I’ve considered pulling out my heating ducts, since I can tape bags over the potentially asbestos joint tape and wear a mask and paper suit. But scraping up two room’s worth of vinyl and mastic? Nopetown, population me.

So, can’t move oven either since that would require a new hole in the potentially ASBESTOS floor. I have been able to patch some old plaster holes and will move some upper cabinets up some.

I’d rather not pay $275 for testing and be wrong, but cancer is expensive, even if it doesn’t kill you.

I’m in about the same boat… I don’t think I’ve lost any weight, but when I was supposed to get up this morning, I didn’t. I did message the office and said I felt like crap. Then I went back to sleep, not too fitfully, for another 5 or 6 hours. I was in bed and asleep before 11, so I slept for at least 12 hours. I’m just hopeful that whatever I caught doesn’t last too long.

Arg… it keep failing at applying an edit to my other post…

Edit was supposed to be: Also, in reply to @Woodman’s post… YIKES!

I’ve ordered pizza in just because I wanted a 2 liter of soda and didn’t want to go get one.

The editing system is fucked for me too.
Worst. Website. Evar.

Just finished reading Philip K Dick’s ā€œthe defendersā€, a short story about alternative history.

Quite interesting, it predates the concept of the Matrix.

Mmm, pizza. I want pizza. I wanted pizza yesterday, too, but I’ve been sick, so probably not a good idea. Plus, $Wife is lactose intolerant, and tomatoes & wheat can trigger her acid reflux, so when we do get pizza, she just picks at it.

Well, I think maybe it was just stuck, because I was able to edit in another tread just fine.

This is even worse when you have leftover pizza in the 'fridge that needs to be eaten before it goes bad. That poor pizza languishing in my 'fridge…

For some reason, which I cannot explain, I’d really like to see/hear Christopher Walken ā€˜singing’ the theme song from Green Acres.

Closest I could get.

And in other news my middle brat had a doctor’s appointment and she’s low on vitamin D… and I was halfway through my response before I remembered I shouldn’t make a vitamin D joke with my step daughter who is living with her boyfriend.

In other other news, only being a bit low on one vitamin is pretty good for a vegan who doesn’t pay all that much attention to things.

Being low on vitamin D is the newest thing doctors think we midwesterners have. Anytime we’re tired they decide it’s vitamin D deficiency. Mainly because we have winter. I’m low on vitamin D and I’m on supplementation. And I still test low every time but they can’t increase the dose. Maybe I just don’t make enough vitamin D and I’m tired because I have 3 children.
