Random Musings (and associated non sequiturs) v. 3.0

Oof, I could have run better than that even ten years ago.

Well, at least an effort was made…

There’s a reason athletes do their excercises, and that sort of thing’s not for me.

I’m just content to toddle along in the slow lane…

There were repercussions.
The chairwoman of Somalia’s athletics federation has been suspended following an underwhelming performance by one of its ā€œsprintersā€ at the World University Games.
It was her niece.
There is no official Somali World University Games team.

Need to switch the programming side of my brain on.

Busy with a Python course, and my brain is stuck on sysadmin mode.

We are bumping our wholesale honey prices up to $4 a pound. This is up from $3.35. The big packers are paying $3.25, when two years ago they were paying under $2. This is unpackaged, so add the ever more expensive plastic bottle to that and the surprisingly stable label.

This will have a huge impact on food prices. Not because we are doing it, but because everyone is.

I’m not raising the price on my pumpkin & spice sugar syrup, but I am using a slightly smaller bottle this year. 120ml down to 100 ml. 'Tis the season.
#shrinkydinkflation

Shrinkflation is everywhere.

Except the govt, they keep on raising taxes and increasing their salaries.

It seems to be a global issue. I’m not enjoying late-stage capitalism.

Yes, it’s that time of year again. Time to Pumpkin Spice all the things!

Crony capitalism. So many things are the way they are because of regulatory capture and the revolving door of lawmaker/lobbyist/CEO. Most regulations are about screwing someone.

A long time ago, I asked why Windows was sorting files weird when they had numbers in them, like w3b being listed before w0b. The answer from another person was something like ā€œbillsortā€, referring to Bill Gates.

Years later, I found the answer. Even though Windows isn’t case sensitive when it comes to file names, the sort function inside Windows Explorer / File Explorer is.

ā€˜billsort’ - thanks, it made my day, and it also gives a bit of insight.

Will also start using it for weird sorting stuff on windoze.

I’ve found all sorts of numerical sorting issues.

It seems to take the entire number and sort them by value in certain cases.
